I just wonder how the 49-PAK works.

I normally buy the 49-PAK with the annual upgrade PLUS-PAK. But this year I have so far only upgraded the PLUS-PAK. Question is:

Is the 49-PAK available during the whole of 2023 to the same price?

What happens if I don't upgrade a specific year 49-PAK?

Will I miss that content forever or is included in the next years Band In a Box Update?. I have never seen any options to order previous years 49-PAKs (or bonus PAKs) and wonder what happens to the contents of those? Are they included in the next years release of Band in a Box? or included in other way or some other packages.

It would be very interesting to know exactly how it works.

In the help menu "what add-ons do I have" there is no information about the 49-PAK or Bonus-PAKs. I just wonder how I keep track of that content.

Short answer: I don't think we users know.

I do not believe that prior year paks somehow get 'rolled in' to newer versions. How one would buy them after the initial offering, I don't know. It would be helpful if PG Music staff could clarify.

i bought the 49 pak separately one year although still during the sale period. if you have already upgraded you have to pretend you are buying the upgrade again, choose the add 49 pak option as an add-on then delete the upgrade.............

clunky but it worked for me

There is a purchase button on our Bonus PAKs page, if you missed adding it to your 2023 purchase:

I initially skipped it, and in the middle of the night I woke up dreaming about the gap in "What add-ins do I own." The completist in me got out of bed and ordered it. Should I seek help?

Thanks Callie, I see it know.

My main concern is if I need to buy the 49-PAK at all?
I normally upgrade with the Plus-PAK each year.

So my question is - will I miss out on any content from the 2023 49-PAK if i upgrade to 2024 Plus-PAK next year?

And is so, what exactly would I miss?

I made a quick check regarding the Real Tracks included in some earler years 49_PAK, and they seem to be included in the next year new RT packs (I only checked out a few samples).

If you find a good shrink, please let me know......I am the same way! grin

As for the 49Pak I would also like to know if it is NEW every year (no repeats / duplicates) or is it rehashed.....just tell us "New every year & the past packs are gone" or are they rehashed?

I LUV PG Music stuff, but sometimes the wording leaves a LOT to be desired..

The 49PAK contains new add-ons each year.

Yes, but will I have that included in the next year BIAB PLUS-PAK upgrade also!

It is new content for this year 2023 49-PAK. If I don't buy the 49-PAK will I still have that content automatically included in my next year annual PLUS-PAK upgrade? (only missing the availability during this year?)

I am pretty sure the stuff in the 49-PAK will be rolled into next years "200 New RealTracks". I have seen this happen before when upgrading. Dunno why they won't just answer the question!

In my experience, some will and some won't.
There are some RTs and styles that were only offered one time .. some get rolled into next year.
That's why even a new full purchase may not have ALL the RTs ever made.

I'd imagine the reason the answer is vague is because nobody knows if what is in this years 49Pak will be rolled forward, and which parts of it will be gone forever (if any).

Make your sound your own!
.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

There is just no way PGM pays session musicians to create RealTracks and then offers them for sale once and throws them away after that!

And if what you say is true why don't they just say so instead of the vague answers?

Well another way I suppose you could look at is, even if some realtracks were included in the next year's update, at least you had an extra year to play with them, rather than wait and hope they would be included in the year after.

As with all add ons buy what you can afford.

It would be good to know exactly how it works.

If the 49-PAK content is included as a whole in the next year PLUS-PAK upgrade, then it seems to me that I am paying for the same content twice.

The benefit would be that I have the content available to me one year in advance of the normal upgrade to an extra cost of approx 50% of the normal december Plus-PAK upgrade price.

In order to prioritize what to put the money on it would be useful to know how it works. It might be better for me to spend the money on som EXTRA-PAKs and wait one year for the next upgrade (if the 49-pak content is included here). But I don't know how it works.

What type of material is included in the 49-PAK changes every year. While there has been RealTracks every year there have also been other bonus material such as the +++ Guitar +++ and +++ Piano +++ chord dictionaries and tutorials.

Is the RT+number of 49-PAK reflected in stylepicker?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
