Hi BiaBers,
First of all, I wish you all the best for 2023 and beyond, with a super health and plenty of award-worthy music...
Currently, I'm amazed by the AI websites proposing new approaches to artistic creation (graphic or musical).
2 examples are Nightcafe and Sony's Flow Machines. But there are many others.
I'd like to know if some members have experienced this approach and what do they think about it...
Thanks

Maybe Andrew can have a word or two about this new artistic creation approach. Some examples I heard (mostly jazz/pop) were very interesting.
I'm just wondering if BiaB can use in the future this Artificial Intelligence for jazz soloing (???) or else...

Hello,
ChatGPT is an innovative AI robot that can help in plenty of things but I was referring more specifically to AI dedicated to music creation

Could you share with us the web sites that you have found to be interesting, musically-wise? Some of us would probably like to explore also.

I’m very interested in that myself; currently poking around in Flow Machines on my iPad.

ChatGPT has at least rudimentary music generation abilities, and will at least claim to be able to manifest styles, etc. but the snippets I got were underwhelming and more just proof of concept than actual music.

Note: I had asked it to write in ABC notation, which suits the text-only chat format and can be played back using EasyABC. BIAB claims to be able to open ABC files but this still does not work on a Mac.

@AudioTrack & Mark Hayes
There are several websites and platforms that offer tools and resources for using artificial intelligence (AI) in artistic creation. Some of the most popular and well-regarded sites include:

DeepDream: An open-source project developed by Google, DeepDream uses a neural network to analyze and manipulate images in order to create psychedelic, abstract art.

Runway ML: is a web-based platform that makes machine learning accessible to creatives and allows them to train, test and deploy AI models without any coding required.

AIVA (Artificial Intelligence Virtual Artist): Is an AI-based music composer, it generates original music tracks in various genres and styles.

Flow Machines: developed by Sony CSL, it generates music in a variety of styles, including jazz and rock, using deep learning algorithms.

Amper Music: is a web-based AI music composition service that generates original music in a variety of styles and genres.

The Grid: is a web-based platform that uses AI to generate custom website designs.

Generative.fm: is a platform that uses AI to generate new music tracks in different styles and genres.

Just some websites claiming to offer AI creation for music. Didn't try them out though (Sony's one excepted).
But the approach itself seems promising. I remember the time when chess was considered as out of reach for computers VS. humans. And yet...
As I said, other members should feel open to share their feelings about this innovative method...

Anyone who uses the Melodist ot Soloist should never complain about AI-based music!

I'm MarioD and I approve this message.

Just my two cents.

{edit} - I forgot to add grin grin grin grin

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

It would be nice to have some way to get back to all these AI threats easily.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
