I may try to do that. I've got a tent that's been in mothballs for 15 years. If it still seems OK when I set it up at home, I'll bring it. Also depends on the weather for that weekend.

My cell records 4K video and we could do YouTube or Facebook. I have both. We'll have to see if Herb has a strong wifi connection or it would be a record then upload.

It isn't exactly fiber but I was able to stream TV to my laptop when I was there. He can tell you the horror story if he cares to about when he inquired into higher speed internet. I was in shock when I heard it.

I have a blazingly fast DSL connection that smokes 20mb/s Or in other words.... No. However, the cell towers are close enough you can live-stream across your phone.

Hoping the weather is warm and dry.
Yes, there are motels close by...about 10 minutes away, and you are more than welcome to pitch a tent on the land. If you need a motel, book it early so you have a place to stay. You can always call them to change your plans if necessary.

SO: I'm seeing the following folks confirmed at this juncture. Feel free to copy this list and add your name to it if you are planning on coming and I don't have your name on this list.

Herb... of course, because I live here.

I think you can put David and Rharv in heavy pencil if not ink. I have emailed a bunch more in addition to this public thread so I am hoping at least a few more attend. Also remember spouses are quite welcome. In fact, encouraged.

For some strange reason the Australian and English folks have declined... LOL!

Will we have a bass player and a drummer? Live drummer. Eddie can play bass live on the piano if need be. Perhaps others can play live bass. I hope...

Another question. Could we live stream some of this on Zoom? Steve, do you know how to do that?

Sure, I've got a Zoom account and have it setup on my laptop which has its own built-in cam.

Hey, that is fantastic Steve. You can also be in charge of writing all the drum lines with BIAB and Superior Drummer. You did say you had all that stuff, right...lol

No stinking musicians needed...what a concept...lol lol

In that case, I'll just stop by Texas and bring my two-inch tape machine. You guys do provide roadies to unload heavy stuff right?...lol

So can how many people could log on to zoom that don't have a paid account?

I don't think there's a number limit. I'm on a free account and it's restricted by time, 40 minutes at a time per meeting. You get to 40 and start a new meeting. We could do a test-drive meeting from our homes at any time.

Paid Zoom accounts come in a few tiers. Al of them have unlimited time, as opposed to the 40 minute limit on the free account. My paid Zoom account is the least expensive and can host, I think, dozens, but I will check. EDIT: confirmed, it's 100 on the free account and 100 on the first paid (unlimited time) $150/year account. When you move to the $200/year paid account, it goes up to 300.

Only the one host needs the paid account, and then everyone else who connects can stay on past the 40 minutes.

You'll probably want to Turn on Original Sound, and change the setting so anyone can Share Screen (to show chord charts etc.).

Sure, Steve. I don't see any real issue except the internet connection. I have a pretty high-quality webcam (usb) I could bring and a Lap Top if needed. I use zoom all the time with a free account but never had more than three or four people connected at any one time.

We could publish the times here on the forum. Perhaps we could get Herb to get on a zoom call with you and me to see how well all that would work. It would give us some idea of the bandwidth issues if any at Herb's place.

There is some other audio software to enhance the audio that you and I could talk about offline.

I will PM you my cell number.

When you host Zoom, you can choose to activate a recording of the meeting. Then you could post that on Vimeo or some such and post the link here.

I don't do live streaming, so I don't know about that. But I'm the tech advisor for a church and we use Zoom every week.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
