Time to say goodbye.

I just wanted to tell you all that I really appreciate all the help you’ve given through the years. And most of the time, it was given in great detail.

Some of you have become friends. Even outside of the forums.

It’s time for me to leave, at least for a while.

To Don Gaynor and John Conley, God bless both of you. I wish you well.

To Mac, ………….how did you learn so much in just one lifetime? And you always share all of it with anyone who asks!

So good luck to all of you and may God bless.

Bob

Jeez one less guy to poke sticks at. I can't help it, I was born that way. It's the Irish wind 'em up part. Kinka like after the stick gets in your spokes you turn to the others and comment, look at 'em will ya, he's got turf in 'es mouf...

On the other hand if you want my simplistic explanation as to how to do something or not, I will try and help directly.

That type of snide, (slyly disparaging), remark is one of the main reasons I’m choosing to leave this forum. I guess what really surprises me is that the remark came from you! It’s one thing to challenge someone’s ideas because you disagree with them. It’s another thing entirely to resort to personal insults because you don’t like their ideas. It's just uncalled for robh.

I didn’t post this to draw attention to myself. I posted it primarily to thank the numerous people who’ve helped me, not just with BIAB issues, but general computer issues. People have literally gone out of their way to research and post lengthy replies to help me with problems on here over the years.

I’ve been guilty of making thoughtless comments on here that has offended someone before, and when I realized that I had, I posted public apologies, and frequently sent a PM to go along with it.

I got a phone call last night from one the PG members after he saw my post. We discussed my reasons for leaving at length. One thing he pointed out to me was that I didn’t post a reason for leaving. I told him that I was trying to go out in a “gracious” manner, or something to that effect.

But your snide remark made me rethink that position. I’d still like to leave on a good note, because the people here who make those kinds of comments are the exception, not the rule. But it did give me a reason to say why I’m leaving.

So thanks again everyone.

Bob, Bobster, Bobalator, Big Bobeno, it was a JOKE big fella, there is nothing snide about it, I was kidding, and actually spoofing other folks from the past off you. No offense meant. It is obvious, that some one offended you. I never meant to, period!

If one thing is clear, there will always be folks on here that will battle you, argue with you, bash the product even though they barely know how to use it. There will always be people who claim to be Computer programmers, but can't for the live of them figure out why windows recorder works, but a full on multifacted whizzbang DAW won't create a grammy winner with the sigmatel built in sound card, and a disk fulla loops!

I have been hanging around forums for a decade. I have yet to see one where someone did not get their panties in a twist over some slight from someone else, who quite frankly is not worth the breath, ah ..er.. skin it takes to respond. It is just the way it works around this here town.

As for you my perturbed friend, i have watched you in here for a while and seen that you have a wry wit, and a fun based sharp tongue, er finger at times. Never in spite, but seemingly in fun. I have also seen you poke at folks much harder than i just did you! So if you need a break take one, but don't let knuckleheads run you off. We need fellow axeslingers around here even if they only know how to flatpick! (another attempt at poor taste humor).

One last thought before you go, don't, come and go freely for your benefit and enjoyment. This is afterall entertainment, or at least it should be. If what i said was taken as a snide (is that really how it is spelled?) remark I applogize. Now get cher a%# outta here before i change my mind.

Yers truely Rob!!!

Bob will do. LOL. And yes “snide” is how you spell it. I don’t have an axe to grind with you. Your “snide” comment about me wanting attention just caused me to state why I’m leaving.

It was just another “straw” in the proverbial “straw that broke the camel’s back”.

If I were looking for a “hammer” on the camel’s back, it would have been when one of the longest standing members in the PG family created a fake screen name and created a post in which he suggested that I commit suicide with my “.38 Special”. The writing style of the poster was immediately apparent to me. “Sivertones” also recognized it and posted a comment and said “****, is that you?”

I immediately sent a PM to the actual screen name of the person who posted it and within minutes, the post was gone. Obviously, my “guess” was right about who posted it. I asked him, “****, do you feel better about yourself now?”

I have since gotten on better terms with the “poster”, but he has yet to admit privately or publicly that he was the one who suggested that I kill myself.

So for anyone who thinks I’m being “thin skinned”, have you ever had someone tell you that you should kill yourself?????????????????

And ****, do you still have a copy of the post you made under the fake screen name that you would like to add to this dialog?

You’ve already commented on this thread, so would you like to tell the rest of the people on here why I want to leave? It might be cathartic.

So I guess the biggest point to this is that "words mean someting". So maybe we should all be a little more careful in how we through them about.

Fake screen names eh? We've had a bunch of those. Sometimes it made me laugh, often it was just sad. One reason I decided to put my real name and real persona out there. No deception, I'm an almost 60 (few months) former card toting conservative living in a place that is, compared to many, utopia.

I can do without the shenanigans, but I do like a good laugh.

In my opinion, too many people take themselves far too serious, I'm just trying to pass some time, lend a hand where I can, and get through each day with a little joy and music.

When they tell you there's a 70 percent chance you can make it until Christmas it gives your perception a whole new tweak.

I'm leaving too, for home, after about 10 days of constant hospital and nurses and nights when I can't sleep. I can't wait to sit on the deck, check the tomato plants, and sit in my own chair, and fire up band in a box on the computer. It works on the netbook but I didn't want to bring the external hard drive to the hospital and I was spending most of my time trying to do what I was told, get better.

For those who stay, see ya later, and those who don't, get on with life...it's too short.

Bob, i did not see that post or have any knowledge of it. If I had I would not have made light of your feelings. I have seen several folks over the years bid a forum farewell, and it usually meant they wanted someone to beg them to stay. I did not however feel that was what you were wanting i just made a silly joke out of it. My applogies.

I can't imagine someone suggesting i kill myself, cept maybe my ex-wife!

Anyway i hope you do not leave, and that it does not affect your enjoyment of the site. If I could offer one tidbit of support and encouragement, do not let what others especially those who do so from the shadows make you alter your path.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
