I want to hire someone to create backing tracks of Pop and Rock cover songs for me using BIAB. Can I place an ad in one of the forums?

You just did. However you may get more viewers and thus more responses by posting in the +++ Recording, Mixing and Performance +++ section of the forum.

Are you aware that Band-in-a-Box does not create "sound alike" backing tracks? If you desire tracks that emulate or seek to duplicate the backing tracks of specific songs by specific artists you may be better off purchasing backing tracks from commercial backing track websites created for that purpose. If that's what you want but you don't know of any commercial backing track websites let us know and we can suggest some.

If you want backing tracks for popular Pop or Rock songs that sound like Pop or Rock but doesn't cover a song note for note we can likely provide you with what you want.

Why not list the names of a few songs you're interested in? Will the backing tracks be used behind an instrument or singing? Do you know what key you want the song backing tracks? How will we be paid? What if you don't like what we do?

The more you tell us the better we can assist you.

Thanks for your response, Jim.

I did not know that backing tracks could be purchased from sites built for this purpose. I will do a search. If you have recommendations, please let me know.

A real example is a Karaoke track for Katy Perrys "The One That Got Away" in the lower key.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Lm_o0QtU98

I reached out to the channel owner, but did not receive a response.
I would like to have this replicated, or something very close.
In general, we don't need or want melody in the backing tracks. The exception, on a song by song basis, we need to decide how to handle natural solo breaks. We need to either shorten the song by eliminating them, or putting in an actual solo (not preferred), or allow the piano to briefly play the chorus or melody.
I need other POP songs with piano only or guitar only accompaniment similar to this.
For most songs, we should be able to find a karaoke reference or cover reference as inspiration and hopefully eliminate the possibly of something we won't accept.
More often than not it will be in the same key, but will be decided on a case by case basis.
We are far more likely to change the tempo.

The tracks are for vocalists. Paypal or similar.

+++ Karaoke-version.com +++ is a site you may want to explore. The link I provided demonstrates the site's version of Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away".

+++ Fiverr +++ is another website. It offers custom backing tracks. Some of the people offering their services use Band-in-a-Box to create tracks.

As far as it goes, a Band-in-a-Box user can create backing tracks that a singer would find suitable to sing "The One That Got Away" in a few minutes.

Hopefully, interested parties will private message you asking for more details.

I have used Karaoke Version as linked above on a couple of occasions as I wanted an exact sound alike backing track that I could also customize a little. Having all the tracks makes it very easy to pull it into a digital audio workstation (DAW) and do what you want with it.

If you don't want exact sound alike I am sure many could give you something that works.

My wife asked if I had seen the dog bowl. I told her I didn't even know he could.

Norton Music has thousands of BiaB songs for sale, for a few pennies each, in big collections. For the price of one karaoke track, you can get hundreds of BiaB tracks in my Fake e-disks.

The index to my fake e-disks is here:
https://www.nortonmusic.com/contents.html#fake

Note: this is a self-serving plug, but you might find them useful. Each fake e-disk page offers free samples in the right-hand column of song titles.

All the suggested styles are MIDI style, but in most cases, an appropriate Real Style will be suggested. There is a reason for this. If I choose a MIDI style, BiaB will usually recommend a Real Style. On the other hand, if I assign a Real Style, BiaB will not propose a MIDI style. So to please all, I use MIDI.

In addition, due to the editable nature of MIDI, some songs cannot be done as well with a Real Style. For this reason, I suggest that you listen to the song with the MIDI style first, and then the Real Style.

As has been pointed out, you can find a number of sites that have what you're looking for ready to go. Simply DL them and you can edit or hire someone else to edit them if you want a more perfect file to play to.

I've never used any of those sites but I think they charge a small fee for each song you want to DL. Probably well worth it if you're putting a show together or something like that. I know I'd certainly check out that option before I spent hours working on a bunch of cover tunes for a couple of bar/club sets.

Yeah, Herb, your site herbhartley.com is down now.
Kind of looked like a domain issue but a WhoIs says that appears good, must be some glitch in the DNS
You should probably give GoDaddy a call, your NameServers may have changed.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
