Hello, I had written to the support asking why I can't do a partial re-generation with the drums in Version 2023, even though the "Alt+F8" window shows the drumtrack chosen in my song.
They wrote back, that the "Alt-F8" funktion so far is only for realtracks, and not for realdrums. They suggested that I post this here on the wishlist to find out, if other customers are missing this feature like I do.
So - let's hope that the programmers include partial re-generation for realdrums soon. It would make my work with biab much easier.
Best to all fellow users Stefan

You can do a fill or no fill at a particular bar, but I think everything else affects the whole track unless you do audio editing. This would be much easier.
Welcome to the forum. We just had a discussion about this, but I guess it wasn’t you, since this is your first post. It’s a good one.

-1. I'm not for it since I don't think RealDrums partial regeneration is needed. Think about how drums are generally used as a metronome the rest of the band uses to keep time. The number one job of a drummer is to keep time. Every now and then a drummer will change it up by putting in a fill, cymbal crash or tom toms but that's about it. Typically drums are the backbeat of the song, not the feature. Many RealDrums have variations so you can add variety by using the right click bar number menu to select a variation. You can also use F5 Bar Settings to select a different RealDrums style. Then there is the question of how much variety is embedded into RealDrums track. Check out +++ THIS +++ PG Music "Making A RealDrums Style" tutorial.

+1 RealDrums, MIDI and don't forget the much neglected UserTracks. Though we may not see this until the end of the year

I almost agree and it's for that reason that partial regeneration actually would be a good thing. The one thing Biab often doesn't do is keep a regular beat with the kick. If anything it's too random and changes too often from bar to bar. On the other hand, an option to force a fixed beat between sections might be useful, especially now that we can add fills where we want them.

and don't forget the much neglected UserTracks. ( Potentially one of the best features (IMO) of Biab. It's a real shame this seems to have been abandoned.

If you want complete custom drum editing. In your DAW set the tempo to the Biab tempo. Drag the Drum track to + in the Drop Station. Select dry, flat, center. Drag into DAW. Find the source Drum file in the bb\Drums folder the closest tempo to your song. Drag it into the DAW and set it to it's tempo so if you have a different song tempo it will stretch to it. If you have the Playable RealDrums Sforzando samples you can load that in your RealDrum in the piano roll and see what sfz it uses from: C:\Program Files\PG Music Inc\Band-in-a-Box Sounds\Programs\Playable RealDrums I have RockHard^ drums and it uses C:\Program Files\PG Music Inc\Band-in-a-Box Sounds\Programs\Drums\Rock Kit.wav so I drag that into the DAW and this will give me individual hits to copy n paste into the original Biab track. If You have multiple hits you can use 2 or more tracks to add these When done you can render the top track (or tracks if you have multiple hits) and render to one stereo track then drop it into Biab. I've been asking for this ever since partial regeneration for RealTracks was introduced & I have no idea why it's still not a feature.
If there is some key technical difference between RealTracks and RealDrums that makes this feature request very difficult then it's not been explained to me.
I didn't understand Jim Fogle's point at all - just because the drum's main job is to keep time, that doesn't mean a randomly-generated track isn't going to produce certain fills or rhythms we would like to change.
Sorry I sound a bit downbeat about all this, but I was really very disappointed that it wasn't included in the 2023 update.

With RealTracks you have so much different playing but Drums are limited to Count-In, Normal A, Normal B, Fill A, Fill B, PostFill A, PostFill B, Ending A, Ending B. If you look at the txt file in the Drum's folder you can see there are no cut loose drum solos. If they fix it so you can edit the drum track non destructively like you can with RealTracks that would help a lot to build up the track how you like as you could copy sections from another drum track and paste it in without the track turning into an attached 32bit wav file. With the Playable RealDrums now you can put anything in you like RealDrum Solos, Rolls

Snagel, Yes, this (rd and other track type partial generation) is high on the to-do list.
