Original tune - basic backing in BB 2022 Mac , I added nylon/ac guitars, piano, bass & gtr swells/ronroco intro on the keys.

Reminds me of the instrumental stuff Mark Knopfler did for the movie "Local Hero".
Very well done, I enjoyed the listen.

I found the noise to the left quite off putting...I assume some of it was/is string noise and some of that exaggerated by delay.
Given that there's so much space and calm in the piece the invasive elements weren't helpful to the overall sound nor my ability to focus on it.
The piano, melodic guitar parts etc are well realized and sound lovely.

Cheers

Hi Ray, thanks a lot for your constructive comments and for taking a listen - the string squeaks and reverb/delay you hear on the left are present in the 2 guitars (L & R) which I used from the BB style 'Golden Hour' as a starting point!

I know of only one effective method to remove string squeaks - iZotope Audio RX10 Standard, they had it on offer last week but I just missed it! It's normally quite expensive at $399 and me being an old pensioner I can't lash out at anything I fancy - as far as I know the cheaper RX10 Elements doesn't have the ability to remove squeaks? Grateful for any advice on this subject please!

Really glad you liked the other aspects of my recording,

Cheers Ray, Carl

RAY - when I first mixed this tune I was aware of the string squeaks and EQ'd some of it out, I've now had another go at reducing the squeaks with EQ (at the risk of making the BB guitar on the left dull)!
In doing so some of rhythmic feel was lost I think (it was fluid anyway), so I have looped a very soft hand drum beat underneath the mix - in the hope of glueing it together better, hope you approve?

Thanks again Ray, Carl

Selected instruments create very pleasant soundscape, the piano and that indie guitar especially. Everything is mixed very well. I really enjoyed the chord progression and the melody, such soothing melancholy feeling like returning after a sunny beautiful holiday. 6 minutes long, but I could listen to this even more.

Carl, this is a brilliant piece of music, its my kind of song.
Are you playing all of the instruments you listed or are they RTs?
If you are playing that nylon you did one heck of a job on it!
Great mix.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Hi Mario, glad you like my tune - I simply used my own chord sequence in the BB Style 'Golden Hour', only used the 2 rhythmic Indie guitars L & R from that style! Then I added bass/piano/guitar swells on the keys myself - then the nylon & ac guitar parts, did a fair bit of small detail MIDI/Audio editing as my timing is sluggish at 74. Then I mixed and mastered it the best I could - it was just the 'feel' of the 'Golden Hour' style which grabbed me, a new mood for me to try out.

Thanks a lot for listening and for your nice comment!!

Cheers from the UK,

Carl

Carl...this is such a nice sound-scape to listen to...you possess a great talent instrumentally and this a fantastic piece...it takes a long tedious time but when I hear string squeaks on the BiaB tracks I go in and go through the wave and target each squeak (they're easy to see on the waves) and highlight them and pull them down 6-9dB...that way you only kill the squeak and don't effect the whole track...if the mix is full you can't tell that the track has been modified...and the squeaks are gone! no one likes mice in the music...love the song!

Hi Dan, so grateful for your advice on pulling down the wave files to minimise the individual string squeaks - looking forward to trying that as soon as relevant!!
Really chuffed you like my tune - thanks very much for your nice comments and for listening!!

No more mice in the music - great!!

Hey Carl, at first I thought the squeeks were water droplets or similar effect.
You did a great job in arranging this. Very peaceful and calm.
Well done.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
