This song is loosely based on a retired Stockman (Australian Cowboy) friend of mine. I have written the lyrics to be more in line with the American Cowboy. All comments welcome. Hang Up The Bridle **** Song Summary *********** Title: Hangup The Bridle File:Hangup The Bridle.SGU Key=D , Tempo 165, Length (m:s)=2:36 I'll hang up my bridle and Jagerling spurs. Fold my bandana that used to be hers. Oil my old saddle that served me a time. That's all an old cowboy can do. I'll turn out the gelding to laze by the stream. In tall fields of clover, get lost in his dreams. The long horns are calling its time to go home. That's all an old cowboy can do. Chorus So boil up some coffee and cook me some beans. The sunsets as good as Ive ever seen. Lay out my bedroll beneath those sweet stars. That's all an old cowboy can do. So if you're a cowboy, there's work here to do. Shine up those spurs and make them look new. Pick up your saddle and muster the bay. There's work for a young cowboy to do. Chorus So boil up some coffee and cook me some beans. I always enjoy old cowboy tunes, and love your writing and imagery in this. Every June several friends and old co-workers of mine gather in the back country of the Sierra mountains near the Nevada/California line. They spend days out camping, riding horses and mules, building campfires, telling truth, lies and cowboy poetry. My brother and I and a couple of friends would bring our guitars and sing old cowboy songs from dinner time to the early morning hours. We grew up on western novels, tv shows, movies and music and you’ve captured that world. The imagery in the lyric is so good and your vocals are great. Love the ending! The BiaB guys really nail the mood and that drum track was a very nice surprise. Enjoyed it! J&B P.S.
