Harry Belafonte, a singer, songwriter, and groundbreaking actor who started his entertainment career belting out Day O in his 1950s hit song Banana Boat, has died at the age of 96.

Honestly I thought he died years ago. 96???? I am hoping to see 75!!
Daylight must have come, because that's when he always said he wanna go home.
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

The single version of "Jamaica Farewell" by Harry Belafonte is one of my all-time favorite recordings. Belafonte recorded "Jamaica Farewell" many times; the version that shows up most often on CD is the recording from his monster album "Calypso". Daylight must have come, because that's when he always said he wanna go home. Well, at least we can find some humor in his legacy, and that's good in so many ways. He would most probably laugh if he could see your reply. 96? No wonder he got tired from tallying so many bananas. More importantly, I really do appreciate and respect his unique contribution to music. A remarkable man, with a remarkable voice. At rest now.

He introduced me to rhythms I never would have learned about anywhere else. I could say the same for Bob Marley.

When I was a kid I remember listening all the time to a Calypso album of his as my dad was from the West Indies.
He did so much work for the civil rights movement, I remember him on stage with Clinton and Obama telling them that they have lost their way.
