I had that same congestion issue Gordon and solved it with the hub I showed in this thread.

Powered hub thread

Since I got that hub every port is in the same place and available without going behind the computer, and though some cautioned about things not working I have not encountered that as of yet.

They also make a 16 port, which sounds like you could use. With consistent power coming from the wall, the transformer is always delivering 5v and and 4 amps without sharing like a computer's "community sharing" on a USB port. I have my mouse and keyboard dongle in there, a scanner, a GPS, 2 tablets and 2 cell phones plugged in there.

16 port powered USB hub

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

There are still many companies that produce great products with excellent service.

Unfortunately, there are more significant numbers of companies that we can expect to produce products of lesser quality that cost more money with deplorable customer service. This issue is across the board, from Doctors and medical services to the amount of corn and its quality/price in a can.

We, the general public, are responsible for this trend. Don't like overpriced crap? Stop buying it. Companies produce what they can make a profit at.

Can we all afford better products and services? No. Can we change our spending habits to buy more of what we need and less of what we want and, therefore, have more money to spend on quality? Yes.

Depressing subject!

Billy

Thank you so much for posting that.

It reminded me that I felt that I would put a PCIe USB hub into my new music PC, but I'd been coming around to using a 1U fanless unit with a very moderate CPU, rather than the 2U (probably) housing I'd originally planned. But I can't put both a PCIe USB hub and a PCIe firewire card in the fanless 1U housing. You just stopped me doing something dumb.

Just a matter of not overtaxing the power supply. The devices aren't drawing amps if they are not in use, but still, that power supply in the computer can only do so much.

uber powerfull mini pc's, possibly mini fusion reactors in our houses for cheap power ?, and mini cheap electric cars with looong ranges.

talking mini electric cars...it would be really neat imho if, underneath a road were pads that charged electric cars as they traversed the road ?
my wife is very concerned bout what happens if one has a lectric car, and due to whatever, one is stuck on a road for ages eg freeway etc.

Same thing that happens now if you run out of gasoline in that same traffic jam.

I don't know much about them but don't they shut off the power flow when the car isn't moving? So when you are sitting idle in that traffic jam you aren't using power.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
