I bought BiaB for mac a few days ago and I can't load tracks into LogicPro.

Mac mini 2020 with M1 chip and 16 GB RAM
Mac OS version: Ventura 13.4 (22F66)
Logic Pro version: 10.7.8
BiaB release: Release 2023 (705)
Band-in-a-Box DAW AU Plugin.component version: 5.5.2

I have a successful installation ov BiaB.

Thanks,

Pierre

Hi Pierre,

As we found out in a different thread, AU validation is fine on your system, so I wouldn't expect that you are receiving an error message when loading Logic.
https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=767015&page=2

Can you describe exactly what the problem is?

Pierre58,

Try changing your audio settings from 44100 hertz sample rate and 32 floating bit depth to 44100 hertz and 16 bit depth.

Hello Andrew,

The problem occurs when I use the plugin in logic:
A) I generate the tracks in the plugin using the "Generate" button
B) I get the message "Generation is complete ... Drag-n-drop the track icons to your DRAW tracks"
C) When I close the window by pressing "Play" or "Close" the interface does not allow me to "Drag-n-drop" tracks in Logic. The buttons allowing me to do the "Drag-n-drop" (for individual tracks or all tracks as in the video) does not appear.

First, in the plugin, double-check that your folder locations are as expected, by going to File menu | Preferences | Folder Locations. For example, if the Band-in-a-Box application is installed on the internal Mac hard drive, it should be /Application/Band-in-a-Box/ and so on. Also, take note of the Saved Tracks location. Usually this is /Applications/Band-in-a-Box/BBPlugin/SavedTracks. Next, just to be sure, open the StylePicker and rebuild.

Generate a song. Do you get the track "drag n drop icons" now? If not, navigate to the SavedTracks folder in Finder. If it actually generated tracks, there SHOULD be a folder there named with the current timestamp, e.g. "2023-06-10 10:10". If that folder IS there, open it and there SHOULD be a bunch of files (e.g. "MySong -Guitar - t=115.wav" - that is the audio for the guitar track) If the files are there, try playing one of the audio files by double-clicking on it - you SHOULD hear that track playing in your default media player.

What did you find?

Another test you can do, to eliminate the possibility that it is something specific to the plugin in Logic, is to try the "Band-in-a-Box Standalone DAW Plugin.app". You will find this in /Application/Band-in-a-Box/BBPlugin/Files. This is just a version of the "plugin" that runs independently of any host DAW. You should run this, repeat the steps above, and see if there is any difference. FYI you should be able to drag the tracks from this app into Logic.

Hi Andrew,

1. I used the standard BiaB installation on the MacMini. So all the directories are on my main drive
2. I generated a musical piece from the BiaB plugin in LogicPro as you suggest
3. Even if I couldn't do the Drag and Drop directly from the plugin, I found the files in the Saved Tracks as you told me. So I was able to Drag and Drop from the Saved Tracks which is a perfectly acceptable workaround for me.

I sincerely thank you for your help. You really provide excellent customer service and I appreciate that. I will do further research to try to do the Drag and Drop directly from the BiaB plugin in LogicPro (and not from the files included in Saved Tracks). If I find something, I will post it on the forum to help people who have the same problem. But as I tell you, using Saved Tracks works very well.

Once again thank you and have a nice day,

Pierre

I still find it strange that the plugin does not show the tracks as generated when in fact they are. I wonder if it would make a difference changing the "Simplify file names" setting in File | Preferences | Rendering...

Also if you get a chance to try the standalone DAW plugin .app, it would be good to know if it works or has the same issue. And, if it has the same issue, try adding it to Full Disk Access in System Preferences | Privacy&Security.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
