I’ve been extremely busy lately with work and health issues with my mother, my aunt who takes care of my mother and my wife. Plus it’s been hot here that last few weeks so getting things done takes a lot longer than usual. Anyway last Saturday I had a little time to myself so I recorded this Jamming With My Friends song in about 6 hours.

A little background, I was sending emails back and forth with my good buddy Ray Thigpen when he typed “we’re good buddies who have never met……that would make a good song”. So I stole that theme, sorry Ray, and came up with "Jamming With My Friends". I hope you like it for what it is.

Pretty unique. Usual excellence. IMHO, It may be my ears but I think the vox could be a bit more our front, especially on the harmonies.

It's hot here also 111F yesterday, going to 113.

quick and dirty song

When I saw the subject, Mario, I though you had been doing yardwork.

Wish you had a way of posting your lyrics. My hearing says your voice needs to come to the foreground a bit more and perhaps even reduce the low frequencies on the vox. Harmony seems to be a good mix - you or TC? Love the lead work - make a note of the sound - I got another place for it.

Good tight production as usual, Mario.

Cheers - Ian

YUP! THUMBS UP!!!!

I liked the song!! Clever idea.

And Mario, I agree with the others ---- that lead vocal needs to come more up front.
I'd like to see the words also.... Bring that vocal forward so that we don't need the
printed lyrics.

Thanks, BUDDY!!!!!!!! Good job.......... as usual!!!!

Hi Mario,
A great idea for a song. I liked it very much - I agree the vocal could come a little more up front. I thought the lyrics really good. Well done - now I will listen again.

Thanx all for listening, the kind words of encouragement and the suggestions. Hopefully later today I will remix this and send it up again.

Nice song Mario. How 'bout letting Ray take the keys on this one? That would make it go full circle.

(I agree on the vox-comments.)

OK you guys asked for it. here is the song with the vocals more up front. NOTE that I am NOT responsible for any ear damage and/or glass breakage, including eyeglasses and monitors!

How about it Ray? Want to play the keys here?

Also here are the lyrics:

Jamming With My Friends on the Internet

Verse 1:
I’m just an old guy

Who likes to play my guitar

I’ll never tour the world

I’ll never be a star

Verse 2:

But I like jamming

With people just like me

We’ve made some great music

Even put out some CDs

CHORUS:

Jamming with my friends on the internet

Jamming with good buddies whom I’ve never met

Verse 3

We’ve done some rock-n-roll

Played some gospel too

Played some jazz and some pop

Even played some blues – Chorus 2X

oh heck yeah....................... much improved with those vocals turned up!!! YES.

I think the canned piano does a fine job on this one. Doesn't need me to try and improve it.
I like the song! Says it all............ and it's all true.

Great job, Mario!!!!
I got this one saved on my PC!

Ray, you wimp! You know you can do the job much better than ANY canned pianist could do. Go ahead and make this one go full circle. Take the key-parts and make it a real collab between cyberfriends.

Yes, the production is fine as it is. But with you in this song it will bring the proverbial icing to the cake.

i got a small area for recording & stuff... i have to keep all my stuff put away in a closet.... it's a chore to drag it all out... one of these days i'll drag the stuff out and maybe then i'll toy with the idea of adding a piano track... but thanks for the 'encouragement'

Hi Mario,
Real good job on this one. I'm with those that prefer the second version. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
