Be sure to check if you are eligible for the free Melodyne 5 upgrade.

I recently got the upgrade to assistant and that seems to work out really really well for me.

Is there anything that the editor has for the extra $199 that you just absolutely can't do without??

The editor features are:

DNA Direct Note Access – algorithms for polyphonic instruments such as piano and guitar
Editing of individual notes within chords – with all the tools and macros
Extended tempo functions – map and edit sudden or gradual changes of tempo
Extended scale functions – create and modify scales; extract scales from audio material

Unfortunately, it doesn't handle polyphonic vocals. I've got some old choir recordings I'd love to be able to edit, but that's beyond Melodyne's ability.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

You know what they say, "... better to have the features and not need them, then to need the features and not have them".

https://pluginfox.com/pages/compare-melodyne-versions

But in my case, this was needed: DNA Direct Note Access
So I went Editor when the next big sale came along.

Direct Note Access was the reason for me. David is right (as usual) about the limit on polyphonic vocals. However, I did use it to reharmonize a multi-voice Ooh track in BiaB. While it treated two singers singing the same note as a single note, I was able to accomplish what I wanted.

I upgraded to Studio 2.X in 2015 and haven't paid for an update/upgrade since--they just keep coming. I paid $149 for the Studio upgrade. Best $ I've ever spent on music, by far.

Yep, I started out the same way as I just kept upgrading every time they had a sale and have been on the Studio Edition for some time now. It is one of the
most powerful programs out there. There is so much this program can do besides tune a bad note.

Once you are in the Celemony camp with your first paid version, additional upgrades are surprisingly affordable. I think that my total cost from Basic (now called to Essential) included in a version of iZotope Nectar to Studio was around $100. Here is the feature comparison.

Must be a Windows issue.

No one appears to be reporting problems with the Mac version, myself included. I now have Melodyne Studio 5.41 and it’s running smoothly on my M2 Studio over Sonoma 14.6.

I have Melodyne Editor version 5.4.1 running on my Win 10 computer with no problems. Maybe its a Win 11 problem?
