Did they do well?

Most of them were for "overhead radio," a few were for indie film projects, one ended up on TikTok and others here and there. This was in 2017-18 and we've about quit submitting as there are fewer and fewer requests for our genres, Americana and blues. It takes a big film or series or ad placement for real money. We did get a contract offer from Crucial Music but no placement yet. For us it's just fun as we aren't seeking income. As I recall those 2017-2018 licenses only earned about $300. We still get a few bucks a month from the overhead radio placements. Mood Media was and is the biggest of the overhead licenses as they operate in about 150 countries. Maybe you'll hear us someday in Kroger smile

Indeed. As long as you take the time to make it sound more than a "stock Band in a Box" production. BB is good but you really have to kick it up a notch or three to compete with the music being produced these days.

Some of my music is in a couple of different TV shows spanning 2 seasons each, and also in a couple of documentary made for TV films. All of those were done in BB. I'm actively working to get more placements with the newer music I'm writing. Every now and then those show up on my BMI statements, with the most recent one telling me they are now playing in foreign TV markets in Europe and South America.

The point is can you use BB to create stock music library music? You probably can. But I wouldn't recommend taking something straight from "the box" and trying to get it into a sync library. It can sound too "canned" and will be rejected.

Agree with everything you wrote.

I had a conversation on another forum about using BIAB as a tool in stock music and the response was that it is "too cheesy". That may be true if you just drag and drop stock arrangements into a project as is.

However, I believe you can use some Real Tracks and other elements in your arrangements just like you would tracks by session players.

What you just said is true.

One genre I am prolific in is Latin jazz, and that is because I am proficient at classical and Latin guitar (among other styles) and can use BIAB real tracks for bass an percussion etc.

As long as you use backing tracks for, well, a part of a backing band, you are good, but I think you have to be able to play something to give it that real human touch. For this, BIAB is a wonderful tool. If you just grab a style, push render, and try sell that as yourself you won't get very far.
