Here is a new production done in an R&B style. I wrote all the music and lyrics. It consist of a combination of RealTracks and my bass and rhythm guitar recorded live. Except for the Oohs and Aahs, I sing all the vocal leads and harmonies. It was produced in Reaper.
I hope you get a chance to listen and enjoy.

Don't Ever Be Afraid To Fly

What we have here
Is designed to divide

Comes a time dear, oh dear
To decide

You got to draw your own line
Make up your mind

I hear you calling
My name

When Autumn leaves are falling
It echo's just the same

You got something
Everybody wants to talk about
Everybody gonna want to know
Your game

Don't you ever be
Afraid to fly
Don't you ever be afraid
To say goodbye

You got me thinking 'bout checkin out
Everything feels so bad
It seems the time is running out
On any hope we had

Don't you ever be afraid
To Fly

What we're paying
Is too high

And all I'm saying
Is we're just trying to get by

Everybody knows
You gonna drop the dime
Does the punishment Fit
The crime

Don't you ever be
Afraid to fly
Don't you ever be afraid
To say goodbye

Eveybody holding on
Doing the best they can
There's got to be
A better way
Got to be a better plan

Don't you ever be afraid
To fly

Jim, this is R&B at its best!
Outstanding vocal and harmonies
Loved the groove
Really great choice in instrumentation
How did you mix all of those tracks so they sound like they came from a professional studio? Brilliant
Great dynamics
Loved it

Jim, wow, this sounds GREAT! Love the vocal arrangement and how you mixed the vocals. That's a slick and funky backing track. Very cool percolating bass. But those vocals...they just really feel present and alive. Really nice tune and great production.

WOw, Jim. Such a good sound. Really dig that bass --so very tasteful. Good lyrics and I love the soaring harmony. Great feel and vocals. Excellent production and mix. Love the dynamics you've incorporated --kind of like someone who is afraid, but then is encouraged by the song to carry on.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Cool stuff. I totally enjoyed this song.

I'm not sure if the vocal is a bit too loud or just a tad too dry or a combination thereof. I'm thinking both but not much .... Just a tad. However, that was deliciously layered with the harmony. Very impressive.

That chorus is killer good. Almost like listening to Al Green and Barry White rolled into one.

Jim...man this is so good...stellar use of combining your great guitar work with the BiaB tracks...your bass line is crazy good and your vocals are exceptional...the harmonies are spot on and really tight...just a great song and production!

I think you are probably right. I’m using so much new equipment and technology that it has become difficult to digest. Just like all of my projects, I’ll tweak it for months. Thanks for listening and your very constructive help.

Hi, Jim,

I think this might be the first time I've heard any of your music. But ... what a great imntroduction to it. Everything sounds all-pro. The vocal harmy is worth the price of admissio9n. Great song - great presentation.

Smooth RnB is one of our very favorite genres and this is excellent proof of why we feel that way. very nice, indeed!

Alan,

Take care.
