DARK BLACK CLOUD It's been a while since I have shared something, I had a flood in my basement where my studio is (no equipment damage) and it set me back for a while with my music production. I decided it was time to get something done. Thanks for giving it a spin I appreciate it! BIAB Drums - Bro Country Pop 8's Piano - 1262 Bass - 1521 Guitar - 405, 833 Me Vocals, Bass (in the bridge), Guitars several rhythm tracks and lead tracks Third party Drums On Demand in first part of chorus 3 DARK BLACK CLOUD Words and music by Ron Helm/Torrey Bliss ©2024 Glass Gate Music BMI We're all in a dark place now Where everything's been turned upside down Trying to find lost words And hear a voice that confirms That hope for us can still be found Let's lift our eyes toward the Son Don't you know that He's the only One Who can take away the pain that we're in And get back on His road again Lord help us 'cause we're falling down Down through a dark black cloud Catch us now before we hit the ground In the past we heard your voice Oh how we need to hear it now Show us things that bring us sorrow And worries for tomorrow It's time for us to lay them down And let the past all fade away Keep us off that old lost highway Walk with us along the way Into a brighter day Lord help us 'cause we're falling down Down through a dark black cloud Catch us now before we hit the ground The eagle is falling down Down through dark black cloud Only You can turn this all around If we're truly called by His name Be humble let us pray Change our ways forgive us Lord please heal our land Lord help us 'cause we're falling down Down through a dark black cloud Catch us now before we hit the ground The eagle is falling down Down through a dark black cloud Only You can turn this all around Only You can save us now

Hi, Torrey. Excellent start with the snappy drums! Slightly Beatles-eque vocal sound, which is always nice to hear.. You and Ron did good. I could imagine where it could be a bit more polished, but it's fine as-is.

Torrey...man it's great to hear your music again...there's nothing around like it!...as I listen I am reminded of II Chronicles 7:14...a much needed message in our culture today...
"The eagle is falling down Down through a dark black cloud Only You can turn this all around Only You can save us now"
The music is quintessentially you...your style, chord selection and vocals are all your own (albeit there is a British influence that's heard)...loved the solo and your guitar work always a most enjoyable part of your arrangements...this is a great return to the forum... my studio is in my basement also and it's been flooded before...ouch!!...tell Ron this is another stellar song!

Nice work. That chorus is really cool. Love those George Harrison style chord progressions in it.
Enjoyed it

Torrey, dynamite song! Love your vocals, harmonies and BGVs. Your lead guitar lines are super melodic and fun, too. And that was an inventive little turn with the bass on the bridge, liked that a lot. Maybe a WIP, but sounds near radio ready to me. Sorry for your flooding troubles, glad you're back!

Beatlesque in the best way. The vocal has a bit of a tunnel vibe to it...sounds cool but does separate the vox from the backing a little. I enjoy any opportunity to hear your voice and in another fab song it's even better.

I tried to not go too far with that vibe! I am "polishing" it up a little at a time and will continue unless I get bored with it! TB

So good, Torrey. It's like you captured the magic that went from The Beatles to ELO and took out the best and stored it in your soul. It has become that special catalyst that makes all you compose so much better. Love this one, and, although I listen to your stuff a lot, it's always good to hear a new one. Thanks. [If this is a work in progress... well, I'd stop cuz I can't imagine it getting any better,

Hot opening. You guitar parts are top-notch, especially that solo.
Love that chorus. It's got an ELO sound.

Enjoyed it Thanks Herb! As I have already mentioned, I tried not to go too far with the Beatles vibe in the chorus but I couldn't resist putting those two minor chords in the progression of the chorus! TB

Hey really cool man.
But I say, there is not really a reason to feel completely sad if you are a Praise and Worship singer.
There was an RNC convention this week where all of those evil MAGA Republicans that are so unfashionable to speak of did ask the Lord Jesus Christ to take back control of our nation with their arms in the air as they were led in prayer by the son of Billy Graham. I may be blind, but it did seem to be pretty large crowd, and they did have their heads bowed, and they were prayin' in unison. And it did not seem like to they wanted to worship a goat or a Unicorn.
There could be a glimmer. Just sayin'.
Peace and righteousness to all.

Of course, if anyone think I am a hater for sayin' what I just said, it is a free country. You are allowed to be you, and I am allowed to be , ale.
Peace and righteousness to all. David, Thanks for listening! ALL I'M SAYING IS...... No matter which side of the political spectrum one finds themselves on, NO politician is going to be our savior! Pretty good rock song, reminds me a bit of ELO, especially the second part(s) of the chorus. Very good. The production is pretty solid, but the vocals could have a bit more sparkle. Should be easy to fix.

Great song and mix. Very 60s sounding. I like the electric guitars.
