Realized I've been using BiaB 30 years.
#ai
well, people want live performers, but sometimes you just need a
Band in a Box.
I remember those first laptop days the guy singing, play the guitar and the drums and a bass from the speakers...

Yes, the ai is very good, better daily. Legal stuff, etc. aside it's as some have written a jumping off point.

Teaching, getting people to be physical with instruments again, to learn to play parts with others -

Go forward to go back.

I'm pleased with it as a starting point, however, yes, seeing a performer - listening, the human connection.

Now, if you've made like me wink some so so songs, and hoped they would sell, dumped on to a marketplace...

I've been successful. 2006 to now, it was enough to pay for CD Baby, cause no marketing smile

It was also hard for the indie, it may or may not be harder now.

Instead, let me ask you this - do you love music?

I do, and it made some songs that expressed how I felt in 2 minutes flat, and they are GOOD. It also made lemons.

Here's the thing. I go into flowstate, happy place when I write, perform - we know it's good for the brain.

Like always are you doing it for you first, and the rest after?

Ownership, yes, important, I've seen some where you "own" it. Reality is these days unless you are selling concerts, products, sponsorships, teaching, etc. Years ago, I learned how much Pitbull was making for 1 billion views on Youtube. Not as 1/2 much as I made in a year working in another industry.

He got money from doing work for state of Florida, he had product placement, etc.

That's work.

Contrast my mom, the oldest person now in the orchestra by 20 years, playing the last 60+ years. She loves it.

Will I use an ai to make something for her to play, sure.

Money.... not sure if the effort to get it, is worth it. and people give up so fast, esp. if not under age 12 when starting...

Best for us, movies showing people playing the music getting the boy or girl wink

Maybe we make a movie using AI...

Enjoy the music smile

Exactly.

Let's put it in perspective.
Anyone seen the old paper roll pianos?

Did the put people out of work?

They were nice music boxes.

AI work cannot be copyrighted.

However, your live performance ....

Better samples in BiaB over the years, Realtracks vs. midi, etc.

Shall I go on...

Of all the people in the world, people using BiaB should be the most excited, least fearful if it's about the music, and performing.

If it's just generate and go, we've had a number of things - from Apple to Autotune, from moog to aglm. music, and the human voice -

Here's where it will fail, has to fail, will always fail....

Getting the audience to sing along, choruses, and people connecting with the music - okay, maybe the Gorillaz, and... Chuck-e-cheese, and..

I see professors and teachers worried about getting students to do the work. Nothing new, so teach in a way that forces / ahem, requires engagement -

Is it fair to expect someone to be able to play an instrument ? Maybe. Sing? No not really to make music, that's the joy of the computer, however, I'm not afraid of people using a machine, because after you see someone who really can play, you realize that's why we do it.

If you are just making, per one of my music friends, NOISE, well then AI is going to eat your lunch.

Music is going to have to try some human-ized things smile

frown Sadly millions have not discovered my music, and likely will not any time soon. But it makes me happy to google my name and there it is - everywhere since 2006.

Also, the Europeans. We'll see what they do, since they express their claims globally.

Culturally, we are running against 15 second attention spans. Mauler wrote 8 hour performances, and that original Halijah Chorus! smile

Go places it cannot, longer play, American Pie, etc.

We'll see smile

Look if they can do this in 30 seconds, they get the carrot. smile

a song 4 minutes long that starts with dense dirty ragged messy drum solo, for 10 seconds, then it is sharply replaced by soft, introspective piano and flute duet in harmony around the melody, reflecting feelings of uncertainty and self-doubt. The lyrics are supported by an Oboe, and damp reed section, to begin with a sense of being lost and trapped in a toxic environment, where gaslighting and negativity have taken their toll. The music behind the clearly sung verses must convey the struggle of feeling undervalued and misunderstood, with a haunting, purposeful yet gentle male vocal delivery.

As the song progresses, with each new verse the tempo gradually picks up, and the instrumentation becomes richer. Strings and percussion join in, symbolizing the growing strength and determination to break free. The chorus bursts with a powerful, uplifting melody, full orchestra with timpani representing the transition from doubt to confidence. The music must shift to support themes of self-discovery and empowerment, highlighting the journey of finding one's true worth and potential.

The bridge of the song is a pivotal moment, where the music swells with emotion, The vocals soar, and a new female voice joins the prior solo male in a duet celebrating newfound belief in oneself and the courage to seek a place where one's skills and abilities are recognized and celebrated.

In the final chorus, the song reaches its peak, with a triumphant and anthemic sound. horns, brass sections, epic fanfares, The song ends on a high note
**Verse 1:**
In the shadows, I was lost, feeling so small,
Gaslit and broken, trapped behind these walls.
Every step I took, felt like a heavy fall,
But deep inside, I knew I had to stand tall.

**Pre-Chorus:**
Whispers of doubt, they tried to hold me down,
But I found my voice, no longer bound.
From the ashes, I rise, stronger than before,
Ready to open a brand new door.

**Chorus:**
I'm breaking free, leaving the past behind,
Seeking a place where I can truly shine.
Where my skills and heart are recognized,
In a world where I'm loved and prized.
You are awesome, they say, and I believe,
In this new world, I can finally breathe.

**Verse 2:**
Toxic ties, I cut them loose, no more disguise,
Embracing my truth, with open eyes.
Every challenge faced, has made me wise,
Now I see my worth, reaching for the skies.

**Pre-Chorus:**
Whispers of doubt, they tried to hold me down,
But I found my voice, no longer bound.
From the ashes, I rise, stronger than before,
Ready to open a brand new door.

**Chorus:**

Bridge: No more shadows, no more fear,
The path ahead is crystal clear.
With every step, I feel the light,
In this new world, everything’s right.

Final Chorus: I’m breaking free, leaving the past behind,
Seeking a place where I can truly shine.
Where my skills and heart are recognized,
In a world where I’m loved and prized.
You are awesome, they say, and I believe,
In this new world, I can finally breathe.

Sadly smile been playing with them far too much.

Let's see what would a human know an ai would not.
Hmm Rosin. The feeling you get when someone takes your rosin and doesn't return it?

hmm. The turning test is to ask me question to determine if I am human. Or have a shared secret. I've still got my floppy (not so floppy) disks, license codes, not good enough.

Hmm.

It is a challenge isn't it. Also, I get stopped by anti-bot stuff all the time type to fast.

Can't think of any way short of meeting someone, cause videos can be faked.

Best guess, would be to ask questions that require such a knowledge of music the current ai could not answer. I don't know if they understand and can describe fingering and the way you get callouses playing string instruments... but if someone blogged about that...

Hmm. Live Music, or really obscure stuff. Let's see I have had a Proteaus (sic) sound module for years, and used it, along with Natural Band (I miss those guys basic midi mappings even gm2 made my life easier. ) and I could talk about how I wrote a song which has my name on it online... ? Only real musicians who'd used the product could understand the process, and I doubt most AI could describe the process emotionally as well as using a 20 year old version of band in a box to make music.

? got any other thoughts smile Proving I'm not an ai - rather running on no sleep smile

Well, no one is going to be able to discover your music here if you don't post it. grin

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?
