Hey Guys,

Hope everyone is cookin' with Crisco. I'm trying to put together a solo part, which I have the basics down for that, but if I want it to play an exact rhythm at a particular bar, how do I key that in?
Thanks much.

Good morning. There are several ways to accomplish getting an exact rhythm at any particular bar. Which way to do it depends on what you have to work with as well as the media format of the track.

If you're using a RealTrack Rhythm instrument, 2023 BIAB has the Playable RealTracks feature. This feature allows users to customize RealTracks by adding their own notes while keeping the original instrument's sound. In your case, for the one bar exact rhythm, you would input midi notes of the exact phrase for the PRT to sound out. Every RealTrack can use the PRT feature.

If that exact rhythm pattern is played elsewhere in your project for that instrument, a bar can be copy and pasted to the necessary bar.

You can use a midi VSTi and Sample Tank if you're using a midi track.

You, or you can have someone record and play the part and use it on the track.

Another method is if the rhythm can be played by the RealTrack instrument, 2023 also has the Partial Regeneration feature so highlight the bar changing to the exact rhythm and use the Partial Regeneration feature until it plays the right rhythm.

If multiple instruments are needed to change rhythm for that bar, just repeat one of the methods for each track.

This is some ways to key it in using BIAB. Tracks can also be exported and edited in a DAW.

Charlie,

Hate to bother you again for what SHOULD be an easy question. And indeed, last night I did it quite easily. I'm trying to create a harmonica solo that ISN'T MIDI just bcuz there don't seem to be any good samples in my library. I was going to choose a tenor sax, but I couldn't find any that suited me there either. So, I want what I think is a Playable RealTrack, but every time I press Soloist I never get what I'm expecting. Last night, I got a really nice sounding "harp", so I rendered it to a WAV file. But I wanted to create about 5-6 solos. Now, I can't get it to do anything that I want. I went to Support, but I got nowhere. Hoping you can help me.
Tnx,
UB

Good morning. No bother at all. So, I'm understanding you're to create a solo with a RealTrack.
If that's correct, Playable RealTracks don't create, RealTracks can have underlying midi data on the same track as the RealTrack and the midi data can be edited to manipulate the RealTrack to play the exact notes you want.

A Playable RealTrack uses samples from RealTrack instruments that are recorded at the same time a RealTrack is recorded. They are optimized to be used in conjunction and matched with the specific RealTrack you are editing to create short phrases of specific notes that were not originally recorded in the RealTrack template the session player used to create the RealTrack.

To create a harmonica solo, I suggest you select a harmonica RealTrack and use the Partial Regeneration feature to manipulate the solo to your liking.

Charlie

Charlie’s instruction is the clearest explanation of Playable RealTracks I have read. Nicely done.

I agree.

Charlie, you should put this in the tips and tricks forum.

Thanks Again to Charlie and Everyone else. Now, another question. 1,) Actually, the style I'm using is "Silt Bluesy Harmonica Shuffle", and I want to create about 5 separate takes, and cherry pick ea. phrase. Is it just as simple as clicking the >+ (Re-generate button)?
