I'm looking for a suitable drum beat, tempo q=76 to 80, jazz but slightly bluesey, 8th note feel. I discovered finding just 12/8 was harder than I had thought. There isn't a menu item just for this; you have to select 4/4 (including 6/8 and 12/8). I looked at drum and style names and saw that 12/8 sometimes appears in names as 128.
Is there another trick to finding 12/8 drums I don't know?
In case any jazz players out there know the tune, it's I Hope in Time a Change Will Come, by the late Oliver Nelson. Although it's one of the most beautiful jazz melodies ever written, few would know it unless they had the good fortune that I did of performing it as a big band chart. Here's a link to a video:
The temporary solution I'm using is TWO drum tracks:
RealDrums=FusionSlowEVDanny^02 This has great underlying feel and fills but isn't 12/8. Aside: I've played with Danny Gottlieb, the drummer on this RealDrum. RealDrums=TablaSlow128 Simple Half Time. This on top gives it the 12/8 hits (3 x 4)
If anyone has better ideas, I would love to hear them. Perhaps there just isn't such a feel in one RealDrums track? If so, I'll put in a Styles request.

Matt, you probably already know this but if one clicks on the time signature's column title it kind of groups the different time signatures together. I say kind of because there may be 2, 3, or more groups of identical time signatures.
{edit} if you type jazz in the filter string the grouping is much better. My initial test was with all styles.

When you are at the checkout line and they ask if you found everything say "Why, are you hiding stuff?"

Thanks Noel. Mario, I did try lots of things in the filter including 128. I’ll try looking at the grouping. I think my main concern is that the group appears too large. I would have hoped to be able to sort out just 12/8 tracks and drums, but it’s everything of 4/4 with 6/8 and 12/8.
Unless I’m missing something. I’ll fool with it.

Yes, good idea and I tried that. I just wasn’t convinced I was finding everything with a 12/8 feel. Although I want Jazz, I found one Country drum that actually worked a little. [Further proof that one should have everything, not just what is supposed to be in one specific genre].
I do appreciate the ideas. It’s almost like I’m missing some small step that will unlock the treasure.

It is interesting. If I am in the RD picker I can only select the combination of 4/4 (and 6/8 or 12/8) But if I am in the style picker I can select either 4/4, or (6/8 or 12/8), or only 12/8 I have approx 10900 styles. If a select only 12/8 and 8ths I get 109 styles all genres that have time signature 12/8 stated. Of those are ca 38 Jazz if sorting on genre from the column, and 66 if sorted from categories Everything Jazz. What signatures the RDs underneath the styles have seems to vary but of the 66 styles 38 RDs have 128 in their names (but it might be a lot of duplicates). I have not listen to any of them.
Matt, put a sorting plea in the wishlist and you will get a big +1 from me.
Yes, when I’m sure what I’m asking for.
We have long asked for a sort on more criteria and especially the ability to sort on sub-categories. For example. I want to sort on 12/8 and from within just that result, sort on genre, then from just that, sort on tempo etc.
