Hello,

I just bought Band in a Box 2025 and installed it on my Dell XPS 18 PC with Windows 10 which is connected to my Clavinova CVP 307 piano which serves as both a master keyboard and a MIDI expander.

After working on the same installation with Band-in-a-Box 2020 without (almost) any problems for 5 years, I am now experiencing a serious problem with Band in a Box 2025: Band in a box works normally when I start a song, but as soon as I start playing on my piano with MIDI In enabled, it starts to stutter, stop, resume, re-stutter, etc.

Since everything worked fine with my previous versions of Band in a Box (2006, 2008, 2010, 2015 and 2020), I first thought that the problem came exclusively from the 2025 version of Band in a Box.

But the situation is probably more complicated, because I also tried by connecting my PC with Band-in-a-Box 2025 to a Yamaha P45 piano, and there, Band in a box worked perfectly even when I played on my piano and recorded myself in MIDI!

I deduce that the problem comes from the relationship between Band-in-a-Box 2025 and my Clavinova CVP 307: a file or a setting of Band-in-a-Box 2025 that would not work with my CVP 307? It is true that my CVP 307 is a rather old machine (it was released in 2004).

On the other hand, this is not a problem specifically related to Windows 10 because I tested my version 2025 of Band in a Box with a PC using Windows 11 connected to my Clavinova CVP 307 and I have the same problem when I play with MIDI In.

Do you know if other users have encountered a similar problem? Do you have any idea what can happen?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi. I am by far not an expert on tis particular topic, but I'll offer a thought that may not help solve it but might help where not to look.

My wife has an even older Clavinova than yours and it works fine into BIAB, although it isn't practical for me to test it now with version 2025. MIDI is such a simple signal over a slow serial port that I suspect that is not the problem here. The structure of MIDI signals has not changed in all that time (MIDI 2.0 isn't really implemented just yet). Nor to my knowledge has anything about handling MIDI changed from Windows 10 to 11, as you tested.

If you can get users Gary Curran or RHarv to see your post, that might help. And if it does turn out to be a problem in version 2025, we can alert the developers.

Thanks Matt for your reply.
I am also very surprised that the problem apparently comes from the MIDI signal input.
But I have made multiple tests before realizing that the problem only appeared when I activated the MIDI Input Driver in the Options menu: tests on the PC, on the Windows version, on the keyboard, on the digital audio interface, etc.
In addition, I have been in contact for a month with the Band-in-box support team, and so far they have not found the origine of the problem.
That is why I would be very interested to know if anyone with an old Clavinova CVP (CVP 307/309 or earlier) has already worked with Band in a Box 2025 and whether or not they have encountered a problem similar to mine!

I see from the picture that there’s another variable: you have the French edition.

Could you describe your MIDI connection? From MIDI out on the Clavinova, or did that early a model have USB? Into what (such as a Focusrite Scarlett etc)?

I usually connect my Clavinova CVP 307 to my Dell XPS 18 PC via a Roland Duo Capture EX digital audio interface: in this case, I connect the MIDI ports of the piano to the MIDI ports of the interface, and I connect the USB-A port of the interface to a USB-B port of the PC.

But I also tested by connecting my Clavinova CVP 307 directly to my Dell XPS 18 PC: in this case, I connect the "USB to Host" (USB-A) port of the Clavinova to a USB-B port of the PC.

In both cases, I have the same stuttering problem with Band-in-a-Box 2025 that I did not have before with Band-in-a-Box 2020 as soon as I play on my Clavinova with the MIDI Input Driver enabled.

You have been very thorough. Not knowing what level of support you’ve already received, I’m referencing this thread to the developers to be sure it is seen.

Try to make you Audio Midi Settings look like this as much as you can. My keyboards work fine in BIAB.

Open the MIDI Monitor (Window menu) and filter to show only MIDI input. After playing for a while, save as a text file and paste some of it here - this might have some clues.

Thanks DrDan
Here are two screenshots of my MIDI/Audi Drivers Setup window
1. When I connect my Clavinova CVP 307 directly to my PC and when I use the CVP 307 as master keyboard through MIDI In and expander through MIDI Out :
2. When I connect my Clavinova CVP 307 to my PC via my digital audio interface Duo Capture EX and when I use the CVP 307 as master keyboard through MIDI In and expander through MIDI Out :
Do you see anything wrong?
PS: I have the same problem of stuttering of Band in a Box 2025 when I use the VSTi/DXi synth option and play on my CVP 307 with MIDI input activated

In the first screen shot, why are there two entries for the Clavinova? Is it possible there are two drivers loaded? You might want to look in Device Manager in Windows and disable one of these.

Hello Andrew,

I failed to make exactly the requested recording:

- I made and saved a first piano recording with the MIDI Monitor enabled but I forgot to select only MIDI Input. I'm attaching an excerpt below anyway

- Then I couldn't reopen the MIDI Monitor window: I got an error message 121 (screenshot below), and I had to close and reopen BiaB to be able to make another recording with the MIDI monitor enabled/

- Finally when I selected only MIDI Input ont he MIDI Monitor and made a new recording (only 28 notes were recorded before Biab stuttered and stopped), the monitoring window remained empty! However, the notes sent in MIDI from my keyboard were recorded as seen on the score (screenshots below)!

For me, the mystery remains!

Hello Matt,

I have no idea why my Clavinova CVP appears twice in the MIDI Output Driver window, but in the Device Manager I only see one driver (screenshot herunder).

That said, my Biab stuttering problem already existed even when I only saw one line for the CVP driver, and the problem also appears when I use a VSTi.

Lazy, I saw you pictures of the configuration of the keyboard and it is NOTHING like mine. I had asked you to attempt to reproduce my configuration. The reason why is because mine work perfect. I just tried to record midi from the keyborad and all worked as intended. I have two keyboards I (only 1 is presently on, so you do not see the other in my picture. If I set my configure similar to yours I get nothing! I would be glad to show you via a video, but it is so simple if you just set the buttons right as I show.

Maybe I don't know what you are trying to do. Both my keyboards are Midi Controllers and do not have their own sounds. That is what BIAB can handle. You are not trying to play your internal keyboard synth? As best I know, that won't work. BAIB routing is very simple. The keyboard is routed only to the "thru" track unless you record then it can be set to the melody or soloist tracts. You can not sent the midi into BIAB and sent the MIDI out to you keyboard. Again, best as I know. Fact is I never record in BIAB. I save that for the DAW

LB and all...

i may be wrong and pg will need to confirm this but error code 121 as far as i understand is a win error code regarding connections eg networking or a physical connection ????
(see google as im not confident re this....)

which brings up a suggestion which i suggest pg might consider.
as there are all sorts of win error codes.

maybe in the bb (and rb) user manuals have a list of COMMON win error codes that could be displayed in bb PLUS how to solve if possible.
ie dont just display the error code eg 121 in this case BUT ALSO a suggested solution in the pg pop up panel for non tech folks ??

just an idea. i suspect in this case its a set up or connection issue re the external midi keyboard ? but maybe i'll get egg on my face ...lol.
anyhoo thats my best shot.

ps...i notice that 121 code has also popped up in other developers apps.

om

Windows Error Code 121 (0x79 hex) is a semaphore timeout error. That means a flag was set awaiting some other code to complete, and it didn't complete in time, and the error event was triggered.

I suspect that this might even just be a data looping issue. The MIDI data that BIAB is receiving is being sent back to the MIDI keyboard, which in turn sends it back to BIAB.
Change the MIDI routing to use a VSTi as per Dr Dan's suggestion and see if that changes the status.

I'm not sure the orange message is related to your MIDI input problem. It might be indicating that a window is not on top when it should be, but let us know if you see it again.

Go to Options | Preferences | MIDI options and enable MIDI Thru (if not already) and then open the MIDI Monitor again and try playing your keyboard. You should see data there regardless of whether BiaB is playing/recording. Also, if you watch the 'pianos' tab of the Mixer you should see notes light up there .... do you?

Hello DrDan,

It's normal that my configuration is not identical to yours, because my keyboard is a Clavinova CVP that produces its own sounds, and I use it both as a master keyboard AND as an expander.

That's why I don't check the VSTi/DXi synth option: with my Clavinova CVP, I don't need to use virtual instruments.

That being said, I still have the same problem when I check the VSTi/DXi option and use my virtual instruments (for example Garritan JABB 3): when I play on my keyboard with the MIDI Input Driver enabled, Band-in-a-Box stutters (stops, resumes, etc.).

But I'm sure that my MIDI/Audio Drivers Setup window setting is not the source of the problem: since 2013, I have used Band in a Box versions 2010, 2015 and 2020 with my CVP as a MIDI keyboard and as an expander and I have never encountered the problem that I have today with version 2025.

But maybe version 2025 of Band-in-a-box no longer handles MIDI inputs like previous versions, or it requires a more powerful PC configuration (I still have 8 GB of RAM!) or the Ultrapack version that I bought on HDD is corrupted ...

For now, I have no leads!

Hello AudioTrack,

Thanks for this suggestion. But I have the same problem when I don't use my Clavinova as an expander and I use a VSTi instead (for example Garritan JABB3): as soon as I play with the MIDI Input Driver enabled, BiaB stutters (sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes after a few dozen seconds).

Of course, I can play without the MIDI Input Driver enabled and enjoy BiaB's arrangements as backing tracks, but of course, I can't record myself in MIDI anymore!

OK, I better understand what you are trying to do. However, my understanding is the BIAB has never done that. Over the years there have been discussion about using external sounds from accompaniment keyboards and it was concluded this did not work. Only midi-in from controller keyboards using the internal BIAB synths (not VSTis) with the thru box enabled (as Andrew said in his post) and as I have configured.
But if you say what you are trying to do did work in prior versions, and now does not work in current version I can only refer you to Andrew and the PGM team. Good luck. By the way I did look up the Clavinova and it looks way cool - but way more than my stiff fingers could play. grin

Also, if you watch the 'pianos' tab of the Mixer you should see notes light up there .... do you?
Hello Andrew,

Yes, with MIDI Thru enabled, I see the notes on the VIEWS/Bigpiano window (screenshot below) and the MIDI monitor records the MIDI notes : this time, 157 notes recorded before BiaB stutters (screenshots and data list below).

Indeed, if MIDI Thru is not enabled, and even when the MIDI Input Driver is enabled, I do not see the notes displayed on the BigPiano. But what is strange is that, even in this case, the notes played are recorded on the score (see the screenshots sent yesterday).

Do you see anything special in today's data list? For my part, I am surprised to see so many notes with a velocity of 0!

Sorry, one more quick "note". Would it be possible for you to do a screen capture or video of your efforts? I think a number of folks would enjoy seeing the Clavinova in action with BIAB and it may help Andrew with his troubleshooting.

Hello again Andrew,

I started the experiment again but this time with Band in a Box 2020 by launching it directly from the hard drive on which it was delivered to me 5 years ago.

Well, no problem: I was able to record a complete chorus without Band in a Box stuttering and/or stopping (503 notes recorded in MIDI before the next chorus that I had programmed to be played by a RealTrack).

I am sending you below the screenshots and an extract of the MIDI monitoring data list (apparently the forum do not accept sending the entiree list)

I conclude that the problem comes from Band in a Box 2025: either the version I received on my disk is corrupted (two files were already missing), or the MIDI management by Band in a Box 2025 is not identical to that of previous versions and is no longer compatible with my Clavinova CVP 307, or ... I don't know :-)!

PS: Is there a solution to send a txt or pdf file as an attachment rather than pasting several hundred lines in the body of the message?

PS: Is there a solution to send a txt or pdf file as an attachment rather than pasting several hundred lines in the body of the message?
Unfortunately, no. Only image files are allowed.
As a workaround, you can upload other file types to a file sharing service such as Drop Box, and then attach the link to your post.

Sorry, one more quick "note". Would it be possible for you to do a screen capture or video of your efforts? I think a number of folks would enjoy seeing the Clavinova in action with BIAB and it may help Andrew with his troubleshooting.

This is a good idea: it would allow to understand exactly what is happening to me.

As I don't know how to make a dynamic screenshots capture, I will try to make a video with my smartphone. But how to send a video on this forum?

You need to upload the video file from you phone to an online hosting application. There are several free good options for that. I recommend:

https://workspace.google.com/products/drive/

It is free, you just need to create an account with your email and signin. After that you will have a place to put any file which will allow you to "send" the file to anyone with a link. then you post the link here in the forum. Check it out

Yes, as I've got a Microsoft account with OneDrive, I could do that.
I'll think about it for next time :-)!

Here is the link to a short video where one understands well what is happening: here, Band in a Box 2025 stopped just after a few seconds after I started playing, resumed, then stopped again...:

[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]You have sent the link, "...with security turned on".

You are almost there. You need to adjust security so the anyone with link can open it.

Yes I can see it now. Good job getting this done and to us. grin It was not what I expected, but may have been what you been trying to explain all along. A picture is worth a 1000 words. I had already concluded I would not be able to help you, and this video does not change my conclusion. That is some messed up stuff going on with BIAB and your piano. cry BIAB is simply falling apart as it tries to play the chord backing. I have never heard that from the box. Hopefully, Andrew has some idea.

Thanks for the link. I also had interpreted incorrectly. I was originally under the impression (incorrectly) that the MIDI was what was doing the stuttering.

Q1:
I'm presuming that the song plays OK as long as you don't play anything on your keyboard. Is that correct?

Q2:
Have you tried a "Return To Factory Settings - ALL", from the Options menu? (I can't recall above if that's been suggested). You would have to then reset some values.

After viewing the video, I'm not surprised to see the error code 121 timeout error. crazy
Hopefully, Andrew can provide some insight & make some suggestions.

A couple of questions;

1) How old is the computer processor and

2) How many background tasks are running when the stuttering occurs.

Don't forget that 2025 requires more get up and go than the 2020 version.

Hello AudioTrack

Q1: Yes, everything works perfectly as long as I don't play when MIDI Input Driver is enabled (if MIDI Input Driver is disabled, I can play normally with Band-in-box accompaniment, but obviously I can't record myself in MIDI)

Q2: Thanks for this idea. I will try asap and come back with the results.

A couple of questions;

1) How old is the computer processor and

2) How many background tasks are running when the stuttering occurs.

Don't forget that 2025 requires more get up and go than the 2020 version.

Keith
Hello Keith,

1. Currently, I am testing Band in a box 2025 with my HP 22 c0020nf desktop computer that I bought in November 2018: it is therefore a little over 6 years old (*). The processor is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-8130U CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz.
My Dell XPS 18 (1820) computer dedicated to music is older: I bought it in December 2014. It is on this one that I first encountered the BiaB 2025 stuttering problem. It is currently at a professional who must install a faster SSD drive and increase the RAM from 8 to 12 GB (maybe 16 GB if this computer which is extra flat does not heat up too much). Indeed, I quickly thought that Band in a Box 2025 might require a lot more capacity than Band in a Box 2020. However, the requirements indicated by PG Music are much lower: https://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.requirements.htm

2. In general, when I run Band in a Box, I don't have any other foreground applications open (except sometimes Google Chrome with Youtube and MuseScore). But if you're talking about background applications, there are dozens that appear on the task manager! Unfortunately, I don't have the skills to analyze them.

i use 2 pc's ...one for music creation and another cheapy for the net.
i will NEVER use a music production pc for the net as such net tasks can interrupt the production process. (see my tips in pg tips forum to save me typing 10 pages of tips please.)

and i dont want to get into a debate on this with other users who might have other views. in summary ive seen too many issues over the years with pc's
that are running loads of apps like the net that are always active while music creation tasks are occurring...thus leading to stutters and glitches.

LB...if your music pc has never been optimised for music activities see my tips on such in pg tips forum....and particularly first step RUN LATENCY MON which will assess whether a pc is suitable for music activities.
(report back what LMon says...all in green ? etc etc.)
the biggest problem ive seen over the years resolving peoples pc probs re music is useing a pc not properly optimised for music activities and thats running loads of apps other than music apps.

have you tried other daws ?? eg bandlab ? or pg;'s own realband thats included with bb ?? do you get midi problems in those ?
just an idea.

PS...here is the review of your i3 processor.

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-8130U+%40+2.20GHz

its single thread score is under what i would recommend.

You're right, Old Muso: that's why I have a computer dedicated to music, a Dell XPS 18 (1820) with an i7 processor and a desktop computer, an HP 22 c0020nf with an i3 processor.

But, as I told Keith, if I'm currently using my HP to test Band in a Box 2025, it's because my Dell is at a professional to upgrade its RAM from 8 to 12 GB (maybe 16 GB, if it doesn't heat up too much) and install a faster SSD.

That being said, it's on my Dell with the i7 processor that I started running and discovered the stuttering problem of Band in a Box 2025. So it's not because of the i3 that Band in a box doesn't work properly.

I will know in a few days if the improvement of the specifications of my Dell makes disappear the problem that I am currently having with Band in box 2025.

If it works, it will be very good, but I will then suggest to PG Music to substantially modify their system requirements page :-) !

If it does not work, I will continue to look for the problem in the 2025 version of Band in a Box.

Because for 10 years, Band in a Box 2010, 2015 and 2020 have run without problem on my Dell, and today it is only Band in a Box 2025 that does not run correctly on this computer.

And I do not really want to drastically change my installation and/or my work habits just for a new version of software ...

I know how we can determine if your PC is too old and underpowered and the cause of the stuttering behavior. After all, I think I did see smoke coming up from it in your demo. Here is how I can help you. Just pack up the Clavinova CVP 307 piano and send it to me and I will use it with my new PC (which is a beast). You may have to do it quickly before the Trump tariffs kick in. grin I would be glad to help. laugh

Thank you for the information and for the great video. So it seems like Band-in-a-Box 'catches up' if you stop playing your piano.

No, there doesn't seem to be anything unusual in the list. The note On message with velocity 0 is the same as a note Off message. I half expected to see a flood of data of some kind (maybe sustain pedal data) coming from the synth, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Go to the MIDI/Audio Driver setup, and choose MME for your audio driver type. That may be the difference between 2025 and your 2020 install. Also, a couple of questions
- if you use a MIDI style like ZZJAZZ and disabled RealDrums, do you have the same problem?
- if you play one note at a time on your piano, does the same thing happen?

Thanks for the link. I also had interpreted incorrectly. I was originally under the impression (incorrectly) that the MIDI was what was doing the stuttering.

Q1:
I'm presuming that the song plays OK as long as you don't play anything on your keyboard. Is that correct?

Q2:
Have you tried a "Return To Factory Settings - ALL", from the Options menu? (I can't recall above if that's been suggested). You would have to then reset some values.

Hello again AudioTrack,

I now have the answer to your question 2: I tried to return to all the factory settings and ... it does not change anything: Band in Box 2025 still stutters when I play normally on my piano with the MIDI Input Driver activated!

But the return to the factory settings caused something new that I can not explain: in the mixer the realtracks are indicated as unavailable **N/A** (screenshot 1 below) while their location in my computer indicated in the Preferences/Realtracks is correct (screenshot 2), that the folders exist in this location in my computer (screenshot 3 for the bass Realtrack), and that they are played by Band in a Box!

Another mystery :-)

Thanks for the info, Mario D.

I assume from your picture that you are a guitarist and that you do not record yourself in MIDI but only in audio via a DAW.

In my case, I'm a pianist and I do not record myself in audio via a DAW but only in MIDI: I usually do not use Band-in-a-Box to produce music, but only as a backing track software to work and rehearse ; and when I record myself it is mainly to keep track of my ideas.

But if by chance you have connected a MIDI keyboard to your music computer, I would be interested to know if you encounter the same problem as me with Band in a Box 2025 when you make a MIDI recording from your keyboard!

Very good idea, DrDan!
But I'll take it the other way around: since we haven't yet planned to increase tariffs in Europe, send me your computer instead: I dream of testing my Claninova and Band in a Box 2025 with a real beast :-) !

Hello Andrew,

Yes, Band in a Box is "catching up" when I stop playing (so the term "stuttering" is perhaps not the best choice!).

I did the tests you suggested:

- The problem remains the same when I switch from WAS to MME

- The problem remains the same if I select ZZJAZZ as the style and disabled RealDrums

- BUT the problem disappears if I play only one note at a time: I played a solo with the right hand for 5 minutes on the same song that I usually do the tests on and there was just a very short stutter of 1/4 of a second after 2 or 3 minutes!

So, I hope this last test can open a lead!

Actually I do more MIDI recording in my DAW than audio recording.

When I get a chance, probably tomorrow, I will try recording in BiaB. It may take me awhile as I have never recorded in BiaB before.

LB..

heres some more info and my reply...
(if you think im wrong you can fact check me by going on gearspace.com
where there are tons of very experienced studio owners.)

1..re your Dell...
is this your dell xps ??

https://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-mac-desktops/dell-xps-18-1137185/review

2..if so...the specs indicate the processor is i7 4510u.
(please confirm.)

3..as you will see not all i7's are equal..
eg...here are the performance specs for your 4510u..

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-4510U+%40+2.00GHz

sad to say the performance is poor compared to other i7's.
and the single and multithread scores are low.
(1557 and 2617. NOTE...music work is lots of math by an app.)
(page down right hand side)..i prefer to see much much better scores.
the link above also compares the 4510u to lots of other processors.

(fyi ive had many people say to me over the years...
'but i paid tons of money for this *expletive* pc.'
and "my friend paid lots less and has no probs'.
the answer is one needs the right pc config for music.)

3..whether its a bb problem or not please read my optimisation tips in
pg tips forum and note point one in the tips..
run this utility which will give clues as to why you might get glitches
or other probs..like latency...its all a process of elimination...like detective work...lol.

https://resplendence.com/latencymon

in fact you might want to run LMON on your other pc and see what it reports for that one.

please report back what the results are so people can help you.

4..as a benchmark my production pc which only cost a few hundred bucks boots into win from cold and into rb or bb very fast.
please post back how long your times are with the dell.
it would also be helpfull to post back a pic of your win task mgr
showing all the active tasks at any point in order to be thorough..
to see if other processes are interfering with bb.

note...irrespective whether its a bb prob or not i suspect that
the dell needs optimising...if thats never been done.

a question for everyone...is anyone else have this stutter prob
with bb 2025 ?? ie useing an external kbd ??
or is all smooth sailing ?? (i work differently.)

LB please post back re the details ive asked for.

happiness.

In the early part of this tread I showed how I have no problem with recording my midi keyboard in BIAB 2025. But I am using only the "internal synth" sounds while the OP is sending midi into and out of BIAB (or some other unusal routing) to get external sounds. Something I did not even think was possible in BIAB. The key to me is the OP says this has always worked for him with prior versions of BIAB. So something is different in BIAB 2025.

To determine if it is a computer Resource issue, start Windows Task Manager and watch CPU and Memory while playing along with the song.

Additionally, select the Performance tab in Task Manager, then click on Open Resource Monitor link and review the CPU, Disk, & Memory values. The problem may not be in BIAB itself.

This might help narrow down to find the 'culprit'.

Additionally, in the Resource Monitor, you can keep certain tasks at the top of the display by placing a tick in the check box at the left hand side of the display.

Hello and thank you all,

It's comforting to see so many comments trying to help me :-) !

Today, I probably won't have time to analyze all the messages, do the suggested tests and answer each one. Please excuse me

I just confirm to OldMuso that my Dell XPS 18 (1820) has the configuration indicated in his link:
- CPU: 2.6GHz Intel Core i7-4510U (dual-core, 4MB cache, up to 3.1GHz with Turbo Boost)
- Graphics: Intel HD 4400 graphics
- RAM: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3L (1,600 Mhz)
- Screen: 18.4-inch 1,920 x 1,080, LED Backlit Touch Display
- Storage: 256GB SSD
- Ports: 2 USB 3.0 ports, media card reader, headphone/mic jack
- Connectivity: 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
But, even if this configuration is a little weak today, it has been quite sufficient for me so far, at least with my previous version of Band in a Box which was the 2020.

Have a good day!

DrDan/All.

Gotcha ! Dan...your comments bring back memories from the past when the keyboard player would sometimes swear at the keyboard...lol
over some issue or other or some setting regarding transmitting or receiving midi. so they would sometimes get another seperate hardware midi module for receiving midi and making sounds and useing the kbd just for midi transmission.

another question have pg said that 2025 works for them with no stutter ?
if so this would point again at the pc being used.
or a config issue imho.

@LB...another test you can run is to invoke RB (realband) that you
have and do two things that will offer further clues...

1..in the RB menus run ACTION>>TEST AUDIO PERFORMANCE...
such will reply with a track count.
as a benchmark here my recently new pc rb reports over 200 tracks.
please reply with the number of tracks reported as well as how long the
test took. as a benchmark here the test was literally 'two blinks of an eye'.
(ry 7 cpu and m.2 ssd.) its just a rough test...but gives clues.

2..run rb the same as your doing with bb and try recording midi.
report back if you get 'stutters'. you will need to check in rb that the drivers preferences are set up correctly.
in summary this offers further clues.
maybe ill get egg on my face but im gonna stick my kneck out and suggest
the stutters are caused by either other tasks on the pc or how the pc is set up or the fact that the processor has low performance specs.
(see my link previously to cpu benchmark site for a detailed analysis of your i7's performance.)

3..as i said see if you get the stutters with non pg apps.
eg reaper is a fast download. (note bb does things it doesnt).

@Audiotrack.

good points...the more we know about LB's task manager the better.
im very interested to see what latency monitor utility says.
maybe ill be proved wrong but i suspect that latmon will report some
dpc/driver issues. we shall see.

@LB...the more info you can give us ie latency mon test, task mgr
report, potential rb track counts etc etc..the better we can advise you.
otherwise in some respects we are flying blind.

happiness to all.

Thanks LB, we are obviously supporting your issue. Please consider giving priority to the items I have suggested regarding monitoring your computer systems performances.

I really am starting to think that there is potential that your issue is outside of the box.

I just ran two tests:
1-recorded MIDI using my keyboard controller and a GM patch
2-recorded MIDI using my keyboard controller and a Garritan Jazz and Big Band trumpet patch

In both cases I was able to record for 5 minutes each with no problems.

It sounds like you have a MIDI feedback loop:

https://support.sequential.com/hc/en-gb/articles/12826311546642-Troubleshooting-MIDI-Feedback-Loops

Make sure that your keyboard has the local control in the off position, usually unchecked.

I wondered about a MIDI looping issue earlier on also:
https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=845522#Post845522

I am really starting to think the problem is not BIAB itself. That's why I would like to get some feedback on the resources being used by the computer.

Sorry AT I didn't mean to overstep. I just either missed that or more likely I forgot you had posted it.

I also suggested that he disable the Ethernet card and very thing running in the background. I don't think he has tried that yet.

Hey Mario, you definitely didn't overstep at all. It's more like "great minds think alike" grin

I think we're both leaning to an external problem being the culprit. It will be very interesting to determining where the issue lies crazy

Mario.

great idea. kudos. your bringing back mamories...lol.
ie..way back the kbd player had a new midi kbd...and it was something regarding the way midi had been implemented in the kbd as to the midi spec that was causeing him to have issues if i remember.

whats baffling me tho' is if it was an issue with the midi kbd that LB is useing why does the problem not occur with the earlier bb version ?

frankly its very hard to help someone without knowing the requested info.
still...requested info like latmon//boot times//task mgr info hasnt been posted by LB.
its sorta like a doctor being asked to diagnose a patient without being able to see the xrays and the patient....

LB...if a midi setting in your midi kbd isnt the issue...please could you post back the earlier requested info so we can all maybe find a solution.
otherwise its very difficult for us other users to comment further.
and thus the thread will reach an impasse.
and also as i said before please read my tips in the tips forum re optimising a pc for music work. over the years ive seen a myriad of pc's with problems.

I know that this is a very long shot but maybe 2025 is sending a signal to turn on local control and after 2025 shuts down the synth returns to having it turned off. I don't know if that can happen or not but while working in a computer store I have seen some really weird things when it comes to computers.

Hello OldMuso, DrDan, AudioTrack, and MarioD (in chronological order of posts I haven't yet replied to ;-)

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions!

I note that I have three new avenues to explore (if I understand correctly):
- Analyzing my computer's performance via Task Manager (AudioTrack)
- Checking whether or not there's stuttering when I make a MIDI recording with RealBand (OldMuso)
- Checking that my Clavinova CVP 307 isn't creating a MIDI loop because the local control isn't set to Off (MarioD).

I'm currently short on time (I'm an amateur musician with other professional activities!), but I'll gradually run these tests and keep you posted on the results.

Thanks again.

There's a lot in this thread, so apologies if I miss anything or repeat something others have said.

My assumption is that the problem comes down to these settings. In this image you've got the MIDI input and output set to the same device. This could cause a feedback loop, which could easily cause stutter (particularly if the keyboard has local control enabled, or if the MIDI is plugged into MIDI Thru instead of MIDI Out). Try disabling Local Control on the keyboard itself, or try selecting Microsoft GS Wavetable - and if that works better, select "No MIDI/sound output" then enable "Use VSTi/DXi Synth", click "VSTi/DXi Synth" and choose CoyoteWT from the list.

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't responded to your last messages yet, but I haven't been inactive because Andrew (PG Music) privately sent me previous versions of Band in a Box for testing.

What emerges is that the stuttering issue with Band in a Box, which I didn't have with my 2020 version, already appears with the 2021 version. And, as you know, the 2021 version is the first version with the 16 additional utility tracks.

Andrew agrees with you that there's a MIDI loop creating a conflict and like you, he also advised me to switch to Local Control Off. ...So I unchecked the "Song," "Style," "Left," "R1," and "R2" parameters in the "Local Control" row of my Clavinova CVP 307 (screenshot below). I don't know if this is the correct way to turn Local Control Off on a Clavinova CVP 307, but in any case, it didn't change the problem: Band in a Box started stuttering again when I played with the MIDI Input Driver enabled.

But I also did an interesting experiment: I tested Band in a Box 2025 by connecting it to a very basic portable piano (Yamaha P45) and playing with the MIDI Input Driver and MIDI Output Driver enabled (screenshot below). And I didn't get any stutters from Band in a Box!

It seems to me that this confirms what you suspected: the problem isn't just with Band in a Box, but with BOTH Band in a Box 2021-2025 and my Clavinova CVP 307.

To move forward, I still have to do the other two tests you suggested (Task Manager and Realband)... but maybe PG Music will find the source of the problem first :-)!

The Yamaha CVP-307 shares manuals with the CVP-309. Manuals are available from Yamaha +++ HERE +++ . You may want to download the user manual and look at pages 196 - 200.

Here is part of what the manual says about local control:
Quote
Turns the Local Control for each part on or off. When Local Control is set to “ON,” the keyboard of the instrument controls its own (local) internal tone generator, allowing the internal voices to be played directly from the keyboard. If you set Local to “OFF,” the keyboard and controllers are internally disconnected from the instrument’s tone generator section so that no sound is output when you play the keyboard or use the controllers.
Notice local control has multiple parts.

LB,

Because I haven't read through all the messages, this might have already been suggested. My apologies if that's the case.

I notice that you are using the WAS driver. A few years ago (I can't remember how long it was), I had trouble with MIDI playback using WAS. What fixed it for me was to disable "Output always on" option (shown by steps 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5) in the attached image.

I suspect that this will not help the problem you are experiencing, but it is worth trying.

Hello Simon,

Here's a screenshot of the MIDI/Audio Drivers Setup window I took a few days ago when I was testing with Band in a Box 2020.

Do you see any difference compared to the screenshot I took using Band in a Box 2025 (the screenshot which was in your March 12th post)?

I'll test Band in a Box 2025 with MIDI Output disabled as soon as possible.

Best.

No difference that I can see. When you try with MIDI output disabled, also see what happens when output is set to Microsoft GS or CVP-307-2.

Additionally, in the Resource Monitor, you can keep certain tasks at the top of the display by placing a tick in the check box at the left hand side of the display.

Hello everyone,

I'm resuming the tests... in chronological order of suggestions not yet tried :-).

First, the analysis of my computer's resource usage.

Here are the screenshots I took while playing Band in a Box 2020, with which I don't have any problems, and Band in a Box 2025, with which I still have these stuttering issues.

In both cases, the "Processus" window was scanned twice: the first time before the song started and the second time after the song started.

I don't have the technical skills to analyze all of this, but I notice that Band in a Box 2025 takes up much more RAM! Otherwise, it doesn't seem to me that there are any major differences... What do you think?

Hello again everyone,

I'm coming to the test with Realband 2025 suggested by OldMuso... but in a simplified version because I'm unable to master or even understand all of its suggestions :-)

Since the piece I've been testing so far (NICA'S DREAM) is very complicated (there are style changes, etc.) and Realband took several minutes to load and had difficulty playing the different tracks correctly, I tested with an SGU file composed only of a succession of simple chords (see screenshots).

Results when playing chords with the MIDI Input Driver enabled:
- with Band in a Box 2025: the usual stutters,
- with Realband 2025: no stutters!

I don't know what to conclude from this, except that Band in a Box 2025 doesn't handle MIDI exactly like Band in a Box 2020 and Realband ;-).

LB...some points.

1..i notice from your pc task bar you have the internet enabled ??
please confirm.
tell me with bb 2025 if no stutters occur when the net is disabled.
NOTE...read my tips in the forum re why i sandbox my music pc from
the net. i use a seperate pc for the net because ive seen over the years internet activities can interfere with music creation apps.

2..re rb load time. here realband loads in just a few secs.
so i suspect your pc needs optimising and cleaning up.
please also post back how long this pc takes to boot from cold.
ie you turn on power..how long for desktop to appear ? here just a few secs.
the fact that rb has probs with one file and not another indicates to me...that...possibly there is some prob with that file.

3..in realband ACTION>>TEST AUDIO PERFORMANCE tell me how many tracks are reported.
its just another piece of info re your pc.
over 200 is very good.

4..please also run the following utility which will assess the suitability of your pc
for music production and give clues from the report re drivers etc.
lets be thorough. ideally one needs to use a pc with internal low microsound
latency. my own music production pc has ultra low microsecond latency.

https://resplendence.com/latencymon

5..i notice in your task bar lots of icons.
here i have only 2 ie..bb and rb. heres why.
over the years ive seen a common problem on users pc's being used for music production is they are running a ton of apps.
ie everything but the kitchen sink...lol.
in summary if you have loads of other non music apps on this pc..
eg net and home finances and everything under the sun this can lead to
probs. its best to run household non music apps on a seperate pc.
another pc like a refurbished one can be had for under 200 dollars.
i have one here for running household apps.

finally as someone mentioned upthread bb 2025 likely needs more pc resources resources than 2020.
so given all the other things going on your pc this might create a tipping point
re resources and thus stuttering occuring.
its difficult to say without being there.

anyhoo please post back what latency monitor says re this pc and also rb reported track counts.
please note over the years of useing a pc lots of junk builds up.
and like a house a major cleanup is often needed.

ps this song file that is problematic (NICAS DREAM ??) could you post it somewhere so other users can look at it on their own pc's running bb and rb ??

Hello OldMuso,

As I already mentioned, I'm currently running the tests on my business computer (HP i3 running Windows 11) on which I've temporarily installed Band in a Box because my music computer (Dell i7 running Windows 10), on which I only have Windows, Band in a Box, and MuseScore, is still at a specialist's whom I've asked to install a larger, faster SSD and increase the RAM..

It's therefore normal that the configuration of the computer I'm currently running the tests on isn't optimal. But I remind you that I originally encountered the stuttering issue with Band in a Box 2025 on my Dell i7 computer, and I started the tests on that one.

Thanks again for all the time you've spent trying to resolve my issue, and I'll definitely follow your advice when I get my Dell i7 back to further improve its performance. But honestly, with all the tests already done, I don't think Band in a Box 2025's stuttering problem is primarily due to computer performance.

Have a good day!

PS: Here's a link to download my "NICA'S DREAM - Aebersold.MGU" file. Note that the solo tracks for style changes aren't yet included: I was counting on the 16 additional tracks in Band in a Box 2025 to add Latin-style solo tracks :-) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VU7ajiwGOZtoySqJQs50oNYo4zusM5Rs/view?usp=sharing

Thanks MarioD and Jim Fogle,

I'm not called Lazy Bird for nothing: I've had the manual for my Clavinova CVP 307 for years, and it's only now, on your advice, that I'm starting to delve into it to understand a little better how MIDI works ;-)!

Andrew (PG Music) privately told me how to do a comprehensive test of my piano's MIDI settings, and I'm going to give it a try. It'll take some time, but I'll share the results as soon as I'm done.

Best!

Hello Noël96

Thanks for the idea.

I tried disabling, re-enabling, and re-disabling "Output always on" (in MIDI/Audio Drivers Setup, Audio Settings, Windows Audio Devices), but unfortunately, it doesn't change anything: Band in a Box 2025 continues to stutter when I play with the MIDI Input Driver enabled :-( ...

Best regards.

No difference that I can see. When you try with MIDI output disabled, also see what happens when output is set to Microsoft GS or CVP-307-2.

Hello Simon,

I tested Band in Box 2025 with the MIDI Input Driver enabled and the MIDI Output Driver disabled (which isn't ideal, since I can no longer hear the melody of the piece I'm playing along to😊!)

But nothing changes anyway: Band in Box 2025 stutters after a few moments.

I haven't yet tested it with the MIDI Output Driver enabled on the CVP-307-2 or Microsoft GS Wavetable. I'll get back to you as soon as I'm done.

Have a nice day!

Hello Simon,

I ran the last tests you suggested.

When the MIDI Input Driver is enabled and the selected MIDI Output Driver is:

- the CVP-307-2: the melody track plays a different piano sound than when the MIDI Driver Output is on the CVP-307-1, but this doesn't change the problem: Band in a Box 2025 stutters after a few moments.

- the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth: the melody track plays a barely audible piano, but this still doesn't change the problem: Band in a Box 2025 stutters after a few moments.

I stick to my current conclusion: since Band in a Box 2021 and its 16 new tracks, Band in a Box's handling of the MIDI Input Driver has changed, and this change is incompatible with the MIDI handling of my Clavinova CVP 307.

Best.

PS: Initially, I did not have these two lines CVP-307-1 and CVP-307-2, but only one line CVP-307. Why did these two lines appear and how to return to the initial situation?

Hello everyone,

I ran some of Andrew's suggested tests on my Clavinova CVP 307's MIDI manager, starting with enabling or disabling the various pre-programmed MIDI templates (see screenshot below), and I got the following results:

With the MIDI Input Driver enabled in Band in a Box 2025:

- Band in a Box 2025 doesn't stutter when I select MIDI OFF (obviously!), or KBD & STYLE, or Master KBD, or Song (*)

- Band in a Box 2025 stutters when I select ALL PARTS, or Clock Ext, or MIDI Accord1, or MIDI Accord2, or MIDI Pedal1, or MIDI Pedal2.

Here's a link to download the Clavinova CVP 307/309 manual pages dedicated to MIDI settings:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HXBNxm4FUqDMJrCXIHSxEMRgO4SUh91S/view?usp=sharing

Does this provide any clue as to why MIDI doesn't work the same way in Band in Box 2025 and Band in a Box 2020?

Best.

(*) At least I now have a solution for recording MIDI with Band in a Box 2025 without it stuttering!

A dash behind an audio driver, midi driver or plugin normally means more than one instance of the driver or plugin is loaded and in use. Typically that is not a good thing because in most instances it happens while the operator is trying to get the driver or plugin to work as expected.

-1 is telling you the original CVP-307 driver and a second instance of the CVP-307 driver are loaded at the same time. -2 is telling you there are three instances of the CVP-307 driver loaded at the same time.

There are multiple ways this can happen but, without knowing the steps you took the only approach I can suggest are coarse. The coarse steps would be to navigate to options > Return To Factory Settings All and abandoning your current song project and starting a new song project.

From the sound of it, the "Song" option seems like it would work best. Does using that make things work as you expected?

Almost correct - the 1- or 2- would have to be at the start of the driver name, not at the end. In this particular case it's because the CVP-307 has multiple internal MIDI interfaces - for what purpose I'm not sure, but:

All (or nearly all) Yamaha keyboards use the same driver. I happen to have an S90 here, and BB detects it as three separate input interfaces and eight separate MIDI outputs! This is because the S90 has expansion slots, and the extra interfaces are used to address those expansions - and I believe some are used for other purposes. Either way, in this case the -1 and -2 are perfectly normal.

My assumption is that you might have originally been using a "generic" MIDI driver rather than the official Yamaha one, as the official one should show two entries for output.

Have you installed the latest official driver from Yamaha? If not, you should install it: https://usa.yamaha.com/support/updates/umd_win64_kbd.html
If so you should uninstall it, then reinstall the latest version.

Hello Simon, hello Jim,

Thanks for your messages.

I got my Dell XPS 18 computer back, the one dedicated to music, and I completely reinstalled Band in a Box 2025.

Although Band in a Box 2025 has been reset to factory settings, I still have two CVP 307s appearing in Options, MIDI/Audio Driver Setup, and MIDI Output Driver when I connect the piano directly to my Dell XPS 18, even though I have the latest version of the official Yamaha driver (which I downloaded from the Yamaha website and installed when I started testing by connecting the piano directly to the computer).

But the issue no longer arises for me because I've returned to my initial installation with the piano connected to the computer via my Roland EX Duo Capture EX digital audio interface (screenshot below).

And now that I've set my Clavinova CVP 307's MIDI to Master Keyboard, I can use Band in a Box 2025 with the MIDI Input Driver enabled without any stuttering issues.

So, I consider the problem raised by my initial question solved for me 😊!

Hello everyone,

Thank you again for your many tips and all your test ideas to resolve the stuttering issue with Band in a Box 2025 when connected to my Clavinova CVP 307 and playing with the MIDI Input Driver enabled.

Thanks to the latest test proposed by Andrew (PG Music), I now know how to work around the problem by limiting the MIDI on my piano to a setting that sends less MIDI data to Band in Box, for example by setting my Clavinova to Master Keyboard only.

I therefore consider the problem raised by my initial question resolved ... at least for me 😊!

But I still regret that we haven't found out what has changed in PG Music's MIDI handling between Band in a Box 2020 and Band in a Box 2021 and later versions!

So I'll see if other owners of "old" Clavinova CVPs have encountered the same problem as me!

Regardless, a satisfactory outcome, so this is a move in the right direction.
You may wish to open your original post and mark it as resolved (there's a button for that), as this might assist others in the future.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

I just tried to read this thread again. I skimmed it, so I apologize if I missed this, but it seems one of my earlier comments was not explored. I had asked this:

"In the first screen shot, why are there two entries for the Clavinova? Is it possible there are two drivers loaded? You might want to look in Device Manager in Windows and disable one of these."

Was this done?

While this thread is marked Resolved, I see you have begun another thread about Clavinovas. Before you can conclude the problem is some change by PG Music, you have to ensure the other conditions are equal.

In my experience, problems happen when you use different ports for a device and sometimes Windows gets confused. It's best to View the Hidden Devices in Windows Device Manager (in the Control Panel) and disable the one not being used. Then be sure to plug the device into that same port each time.

There's more. There's always more, but let's start here.

I see by your pictures that your CPU maxes out. That will cause stuttering also.

I became convinced a while ago that the problem is external to BIAB. It is either configuration, or a MIDI 'data' looping issue.

Your right Matt.

i dunno if this helps the op ...but ive compared the properties reported by win of different years bb exe sizes ie right click on exe for exe size.

for example 2025 exe size is larger than earlier versions eg 2022 by a few megs. so its possible that this might be a factor...ie a tipping point.

AT and Matt and anyone else interested...as im vision impaired...upthread is a pic of the op's task bar. it looked like the net was also running ??

in summary im not sure one can say ...'well bb ran in year xxxx with no stutters so why doesnt 2025 ?'. because for one the 2025 exe it seems is bigger.
to be fair to pg they have no way of knowing what other apps/tasks a users pc is running.

yes midi issues can be a factor but 'most' past cases ive seen over many years with peoples different pc's and stuttering is they arent optimised/set for music creation...per AT...hence why i did the tips thread in the tips forum.
thus there are many reasons for stutters.
maybe in this case the larger bb 2025 and/or the net being on and/or other external factors as AT said.

to finish i really wish latency monitor had been run cos this will give added info so informed advice can be given. i requested this earlier as i did rb track counts but no info posted back.

for background lurkers reading these threads please please consider getting your pc optimised for music production. as well as my tips in the pg tips forum there is a ton of info on the net and you tube and sites where studios hang out like gearspace.com and others. gearspace is a great site to post problems and ask for advice etc etc.

happiness.

Hello AudioTrack, Matt Finley, MarioD and Old Muso,

Keep in mind one thing: I never experienced this stuttering issue with Band in a Box 2010, 2015, and 2020 installed with the same initial configuration: a Clavinova CVP 307 connected to a Dell XPS 18 PC via a Roland Duo-Capture EX interface via MIDI and USB ports.

The stuttering problem only appeared when I replaced Band in a Box 2020 with Band in a Box 2025 on the same PC connected to the same piano with the same cables and ports, and I used Band in a Box 2025 with the MIDI Input driver enabled, as I did previously (*).

But I also know that the problem isn't solely with Band in a Box 2025, since, as I mentioned, Band in a Box 2025 doesn't stutter, regardless of the computer it's installed on, when I connect my PC to a Yamaha P45 piano, even if I play it with the MIDI Input driver enabled.

From all this, it's hard not to think that the problem stems from the relationship between Band in a Box 2025 and the Clavinova CVP 307! That's why I'd like to know if other CVP 307 owners are experiencing the same problem.

Best!

(*) I know today, with the tests done at the request of Andrew (PG Music), that it is from the 2021 version that Band in a Box stutters when connected to my Clavinova CVP 307 (note that the 2021 version is the first version with 16 additional tracks).

I know, it's still a puzzle. The thread is pretty long and I don't recall if it was ever stated that BIAB 2024 (and thus 2025) are fundamentally different in terms of requirements for the CPU than versions before 2024. They changed it so RealTracks regenerate much faster than before, but of course this requires more processing power. Yes, I know that's as far from MIDI as it gets, but combined with the picture of your processor maxing out, I think it's at least a good explanation why BIAB 2020 and 2025 might behave differently.

LB.

this thread keeps on returning to why does A work with X but not Y. with respect its not comparing apples to apples.
because..
..the bb versions are different and
..you have two different kbds which might have different engineering intrernaly as well as different midi protocol implementations.

see what i mean ?
yes a ford and a rolls royce might get one from A to B but internally they are engineered differently.

now lets come at this another way.
up thread i asked you if the net was activated while you were useing bb. you never replied....why ?
there are reasons i asked this....as well as why i asked you to run latency mon from resplenfence so as to assess your pc.
and also i requested rb track counts.

why are the above important ??
and shouldnt be ignored ??

answer is depending on the answers from you we can say 'ok its not that'. ie process of elimination.
ie this info alows us to drill down to the nub of your issues by ticking off possible reasons.
for example if latency mon throws up red flags then this is an important input.

so once again i ask please post back thei info requested.
so we can go through a process of elimination for possible reasons for your problems.

so PLEASE...post back...

..whether the net is active all the time.
..what latency mon reports re your pc.
..what rb reports re your possible track counts.

maybe the above info is relevent or not but we wont know till the above are known it will help greatly in ticking off possible stutter causes.
Ive seen over the years some very odd reasons for stutters.

Adding to Matt's message, starting in 2021 if BiaB requires more resources due to the added tracks, the CVP 307 required resources, and the fact that the computer's CPU is running near and at max indicates that the computer may not be powerful enough to run both simultaneously. I believe the fact that the Yamaha P45 piano works just fine supports that theory.

I'd like to know how much ram, the CPU speed, and how much room is available on her HD.

Ladybird did you disable your Ethernet card and everything running in the background like I previously suggested? If so did the CVP 307 and BiaB 2025 work OK? If you eliminate some of the CPU workload you may get both to work properly.

That is normal with the Yamaha driver, and you will notice it in other software.

This is normal with the official Yamaha driver, as there are multiple MIDI "ports" on some devices (My S90 has eight, with only one device in Device Manager).

Hello OldMuso, Mario D, Matt Finley and Simon,

I ran two final tests among those suggested by Old Muso and Mario D, this time on my computer dedicated to music, the one with Windows 10, an i7 processor, and whose RAM has just been upgraded to 12 GB:

- I uninstalled all network cards and therefore prevented any internet connection. But when I reset the MIDI settings of my Clavinova to "All Parts" and play the piano with the MIDI Input driver enabled in Band in a Box 2025, it still stutters.

- I opened Windows Task Manager and looked at the computer's performance when playing Band in a Box: it seems to me that the processor is just as heavily used as when I was testing with my desktop computer, the one with Windows 11, an i3 processor, and 8 GB of RAM (screenshot below).

Although I feel guilty about not running all the tests you suggested, especially with Old Muso, who has long been making its best efforts to suggest leads for research, I'll stop now:

- My problem is practically solved since I know that there are pre-programmed MIDI settings on my Clavinova CVP 307, such as Master Keyboard, that prevent Band in a Box 2025 from stuttering when I play or record MIDI.

- Above all, I want to find time to make music again; and computer tests take up even more of my time, especially since I'm not a pro at it!

- Well, as my name suggests, I'm a LAZY bird 😊!

Thanks again, everyone!
