More information would be needed to really help. Things like is the MIDI song generated in BiaB or imported into BiaB? How did you save and export the song? ETC.
However the first thing that I would look at is song settings for the start of the song, the numbers of measures in the song, and how many times the song is looped; see attached picture. If that doesn't help trying the return to factory settings/most under the options menu.
I hope this helps and good luck.

It is the demo song You have in Your BIAB directory. It is a BIAB song and I export the MIDI from this song using the standard (not modified) settings.
A La Claire Fontaine is not on my computer much less in a BIAB Song file? It is generally played in 2/4 not 4/4 and I find its sheet music with ~88 bars in G. But none of that explains your 289 bar version. On a good day, BIAB should handle this midi chart. But BIAB midi notation does not have a lot of good days. You can try to return to factory settings. Or if the notation is important I suggest you run over to Musescore and let a pro handle the printed chart.
The extra bars appear to be a quirk with the MIDI import to Guitar Pro for that particular file. I exported the same file to MIDI, loaded it to Guitar Pro and had several pages of extra bars. The song itself ended at the proper bar, and the extra bars could be deleted to 'right-size' the song.
I tested several other files from the Artist Performance set, and the MIDI files all imported to Guitar Pro without extra bars.
Thank You for all Your efforts. Looks like in some files the MIDI export from BIAB shows that problem, not all. The MIDI files show the behaviour not only when imported into Guitar Pro but when imported into other programs, fe. Midi Editor, too. I thought it might have to do with the 5x chorus, but that is not the root of problem.
An examination in ‘MidiEditor’ shows that the file contains a text event (harmony) at the very end, i.e. at approx. 12 min, which obviously inflates the length of the Midi file unintentionally. Does anyone have any idea how this could be corrected? Maybe there's an option that omits the text events when exporting or something?
How do you save to a MIDI file? BIAB has a few ways to do and it would be useful to know what your approach is. That way we can test how you do it to see if that is the problem.

I've reported this to the developers, with bug id# 5008
