1. I saved one soong of Band in a Box, and all of a sudden I hear a big sound in my headphones. Anyone knows what might have happened?

2. I have the feeling that Band in a Box changes a little bit the song , with for example , maybe adding some drums fill here , and the next time in another. I am aware that there is a freeze, although I am still not so familiar with it. How can I control those elements, like drums fill. How can I put a drums fill, in a place that I want?

3. I understand that , within a style , there are substyles (or called differently) , like a,b (and even d,c...)
But many times , I don t hear the difference between a and b; how come?
Can I just go to one place and take, for example the guitar of style 83 (or another number) of a , and pick the guitar of b ?

4. Can , within one song , put different styles; like the first part with style 50, the next with 60, and the next 50 ?

Thanks for any help,
Daniel

1. No idea, need better description of big sound.

2. Yes BiaB changes the song everytime you hit play, try replay or freeze the tracks. To cause a drumfill put a marker on taht bar and the drums will do a fill leading into it, as the style allows. This can be done in chords window, colors define A and B. Blue = A style.

3.&4 To use separate styles, realtracks etc for parts of a track you'll need to go to Realband; it is designed for this purpose. Just highlite a track or section of a track and generate any style or realtrack you want.

Thanks Rharv
The sound is a PSHHHHHHHHH very loud , that even hurt my ears. I am even afraid now to put my headphones, in case this might happen again ( even though the volume of my headphones is not loud) .

And how come I don t hear a difference within a style for a and b , when I type them ? But sometimes I do hear a difference , for example when the choruses change

Do you have a microphone set up somewhere? Loud blasts are typicall some Feedback in the signal chain. You have not really described you system.

You have not told us what version you are on, but even the early version have substyles. Sometimes the change between a and b can be subtle, but you should always hear the drum fill on the bar immediately preceeding the change. Listen carefully.

You got a lot of questions - looks like you have jumped into the deep end of the pool. How well can you swim? If not too well, then keep your questions simple - one at a time -, tell us more about your system and before you know it you will be swimming laps. Welcome to the forum.

For the sound, what means are you using to save - menu, button, ctrl-s? When does the sound occur during the save - start, middle, end, after save? Does it sound like a BIAB instrument of any type? Does this happen with just one BIAB song, all, ...? MIDI or RT/RD?

For sub-styles, I believe many styles have no "b" sub style and BiaB plays the same "a" sub style regardless of what is displayed. If you look in the memo area of the style picker (or just single click in the style name in the Chord Sheet) there is often a reference to the "b" sub style like "Accordion at 'b' adds a zydeco feel." This would indicate for sure if there is a "b", but otherwise it is not explicitly stated. To find out for sure for the "current" style, click "edit style" icon (top hat with "STY"). There you sill see the style formulations for the various sub styles. If there is nothing in "B" Pattern (like Alberti), there is no "b" sub style.

O.K. I have Band in a Box 2010.5 Mega pak with RealBand , and some RealTracks , for Windows , the downloaded versions. I have Vista.
I use as a soundcard, and to record my voice : CI 2 of Steinberg , where my headphones are plugged in , in general . I also have a microphone, but in general , it s not plugged in , unless I want to record, or something else.

I ,BTW, also have FL Studio , which I would like to use it , with Band in a Box , and as I understand , also Realband .
BTW, my main focus right , is to prepare a decent DEMO to get a record deal.
I also want to mention that my computer has a problem with the sound, and for example, when I plug my headphones on the computer, I still can hear the speakers of the computer.

I took the MIDI Input Driver CI 2 Steinberg , and the output Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth . I f I choose CI2 Steinberg as the output, it doesn t work as I want , but if I chose as the output Micro GS Wa synth + CI2 Steinberg , Ithink it s O.K. Don t understand much in all that, but when I hear it works, that s already a lot for me

Another thing, with RealBand , sometimes I need to change the volume of my souncard, and I cannot change the volume in the computer (maybe this is for only the drums, or the other instruments, not sure) . A problem that I don t have with Band in a Box
Thanks for your patience

The first issue is a setting in your Windows sound system. You should be able to right-click the speaker icon and get some settings there to define that.

The second issue may be because in Realband you do not have the same MIDI and audio drivers selected as the system is using. It is possible to select drivers for RB that are different than Windows is using. These are found under Options-preferences-audio-drivers and options-preferences MIDI devices. If you want them to work the same as in BiaB you'll need to make sure the same ones are selected in RB as in BiaB and (if applicable) click the 'Move selected device to top' button so that device becomes the default device in RB. During installation RB has to guess which available device you want to use.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
