Link: Freckles, Wrinkles, Belly Button After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to change the world with protest songs, I remembered the words of the British philosopher and bedroom musician John L.: "All You Need Is Love". Wise man! So I wrote a simple, cheesy, very clichéd love song. A Reggae, to lighten the mood a bit. Reggae always cheers me up, and that's exactly what I, and the rest of the world, need right now. And it’s a small, long-overdue tribute to the love of my life. Yes, even Germans have feelings sometimes. Mrs. Thomas hasn't listened to the song yet. So if you happen to be traveling in Europeland later this year and see a guy with a black acoustic and matching sunglasses playing in a pedestrian zone, she probably didn't like it. Anyway. Here it is. Write something... I have to admit that I got ‘lost in the sauce’ of this one. There is a splurge of reggae and ska on the forum atm, and yours is a very worthy addition. The backing band speaks for itself (very good), but the higher melody lines of the AI singer really illustrate the euphoria of love.

VERY nicely done, B.D.! Cool tune, and the vocals are quite nice and a very convincing stand in for the way contemporary human vocals are processed these days in popular music. Reggae was a nice choice and, yes, it always makes ME feel happy, too. And so did your song. Perfect arrangement and mix. Lots of dynamic range but lots of space, too. Am POSITIVE Mrs Thomas will L-O-V-E it. Not that I wouldn't enjoy seeing you busking. That would be cool.

I decided not to comment any songs with AI vocals, because I'm against using them, because they don't have that human interpretation, even mistakes.
But you mentioned "All you need is love" and that reminded me about a great and useful book I just read: "All you need is ears" by George Martin. It taught me a lot about producing music. One thing is, that the best meters are your ears. If the music don't sound good, even tho the meters show otherwise, they're either metering wrong things or wrongly right things.
But to your music: the background was well produced.

A beautiful song! At first, I thought there was a bit too much reverb on the vocals, but I was wrong, I noticed while listening.
And secretly, I had hoped you would have used an African accent or perhaps a Caribbean voice... But the voice you used was also very pleasant to listen to.
But guess what? My legs and body started swinging when I listened and didn't stop when typing this message... so, a dangerously good song!
But that title...?

Hey BD,
That is such a great feel good song and worthy of being heard on the radio. It is a reggae rhythm but the song doesn’t sound overly reggae to me. Perhaps it’s because it also have that commercial pop feel going on. I’ve always struggled with the reggae beat, ask Mr.Dee, but you’ve nailed it and this is great songsmithing.

Dat cheesiness don't faze me none; the cliqués work just fine
That reggae beat done moved my feet just like it was designed. I have not been a big fan of synth voices to date, but this production was superb from go to whoa. Great job, B.D.

Wonderful, happy reggae love song! I was just in YT and there was a notification that you'd posted a new song, but I couldn't find it on your page.
This song has 2 things in common with 2 projects I'm working on: inspired by J&B and lacking inspiration myself for instrumentals I'm just doing the finishing touches on my first reggae instrumental - that will likely be my next post as I'm still awaiting the final BVs for my first Chay-sung song - then planned as the following post is another sung song called "I Love You", but it's really about the 3rd great love of my life and/or a 4th yet to come one who alas is probably in Neverland!

It's a very cool song and arrangement. For me the vocal is a bit too generic and does add a little cheese but whether it's Gouda or Parmesan I can't tell.

Another brilliant, commercially appealing song And I'm glad that the desperately angry girl with black hair and tattoos has finally find the light of her life and now spending the best days of her life in the Caribbean. Cute lyrics. Great band, great mix and superb vocals. You are maybe the best producer on this forum, everything screams perfectness. This should be the biggest summer hit 2026, I wouldn't be surprised to hear this on the radio... or actually I would, because songs this good do not get airplay they deserve. Janne

Thanks for the humor and your great song. It's true that protest songs have never been very successful, and in the end, the more you sing, the worse it gets! What to do: Retreat to the top of a mountain with your guitar and meditate on the depravities of humanity. Another option: write love songs or songs with absolutely no meaning while trying to make as much money as possible.

We, obviously, much like reggae and thus we were immediately captured by this. The band, vocals, the write, your performances and the mix nailed the vibe. It has the early reggae feel when upbeat lyrics dominated the genre. Well done and we enjoyed it! And we doubt you will be busking. J&B PS Janice just listened again and said she could envision Grace Potter singing this. We love it!

Two reggae songs at once (yours and J&B's), I think that's two more than I've heard the whole seven years I've been on the forum. This was really different for you, but still good. Nice catchy chorus. Lead vocal was terrific. Well done as usual. Reggae is cool, I hope that J&B's and my own work will inspire others to give Reggae a try. Man is this the right concert?? I came here for the black goth girl with the dragon tattoo across her forehead with the bone in her nose biting off the head of a bat because the world is black black and blacker than black.

No but seriously, that was a joke and I think this is a cute as hell fun little song.
I never quite expected this.
But it's great.
(But I still feel like Paul McCartney at the latest Bob Dylan show. I paid money to see black dark-hearted black black angry girl with the black mask and the black black heart on a black black night.)
* PS just to give some credence to my Paul McCartney reference, I thought it was hilarious that Paul went to the latest Bob Dylan show where Bob was wearing a hoodie playing electric piano and singing a bunch of songs no one had ever heard. Paul McCartney said he was pissed off because he paid good money to hear Tambourine Man and Bob didn't play anything he'd ever heard and he wanted his money back. McCartney said that when fans paid good money he knew that he had to play Let it Be, Lady Madonna, Get Back, Live and Let Die and Hey Jude, Yesterday and Blackbird or the crowd was going to start screaming and yelling at him and ask for a refund. The tattooed goth girl is on vacation, and her little sister has taken over. But she'll be back  Thank you very much for your comment, David. And a double thank you for the McCartney story, I'd never heard that before. And, of course, Paul's right!

This one is written by one of my all-time favorite songwriters. Another brilliant production, Brain. Excellent arrangement. I'm with you on Reggae's mood-lifting ability. Hey, did you ever write a protest song about all the sappy love songs? [Finally the temperatures are back to a level where I can work in my studio without getting blisters on my skin.] I'm glad you like it, even though it's pretty different from my usual stuff. I think I've written a song before with a line that I'll never write a love song, but of course a punky protest song about all those love songs is a good idea. There's always room at the top. Wonderful, happy reggae love song! I was just in YT and there was a notification that you'd posted a new song, but I couldn't find it on your page.
This song has 2 things in common with 2 projects I'm working on: inspired by J&B and lacking inspiration myself for instrumentals I'm just doing the finishing touches on my first reggae instrumental - that will likely be my next post as I'm still awaiting the final BVs for my first Chay-sung song - then planned as the following post is another sung song called "I Love You", but it's really about the 3rd great love of my life and/or a 4th yet to come one who alas is probably in Neverland! Ha! 2026 seems to be the year of Reggae. Watch out, Bob Marley! Thank you so much for listening and for your kind comment, Chay. Much appreciated

It's a very cool song and arrangement. For me the vocal is a bit too generic and does add a little cheese but whether it's Gouda or Parmesan I can't tell. Thanks Ray Since this song was meant to be cheesy from the start, the singer seems to fit the bill pretty well. Gouda or Parmesan? I love them both

Another brilliant, commercially appealing song And I'm glad that the desperately angry girl with black hair and tattoos has finally find the light of her life and now spending the best days of her life in the Caribbean. Cute lyrics. Great band, great mix and superb vocals. You are maybe the best producer on this forum, everything screams perfectness. This should be the biggest summer hit 2026, I wouldn't be surprised to hear this on the radio... or actually I would, because songs this good do not get airplay they deserve. Thanks for the humor and your great song. It's true that protest songs have never been very successful, and in the end, the more you sing, the worse it gets! What to do: Retreat to the top of a mountain with your guitar and meditate on the depravities of humanity. Another option: write love songs or songs with absolutely no meaning while trying to make as much money as possible.

We, obviously, much like reggae and thus we were immediately captured by this. The band, vocals, the write, your performances and the mix nailed the vibe. It has the early reggae feel when upbeat lyrics dominated the genre. Well done and we enjoyed it! And we doubt you will be busking. J&B PS Janice just listened again and said she could envision Grace Potter singing this. We love it! Thank you, J&B, for your really kind and encouraging words. I'd never heard of Grace Potter before, but I listened to a few of her songs yesterday, and yes, her more upbeat songs show that she would definitely be a good fit for my song. She's a great singer!

It’s a really fun song that blends reggae and ska.
Serious lyrics certainly wouldn't suit a track like this.
Reggae has become popular in Japan lately.
Personally, I prefer Latin music, so I feel a bit left out.
Enjoyed my listen and watch a lot.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
