We had a late afternoon gig at a Senior Citizen complex. The rec room was jammed we were jamming, got home at dusk, and instead of watching fireworks, I unloaded the van and took all the gear in the house. (It never sleeps in the van.)
We played "America The Beautiful", "God Bless America", and ended with "God Bless The USA". In-between we played all the songs we know in our +600 song repertoire that mentioned US state or city names.
It was a good day. And I still have all my fingers.

Yep, got all of my fingers. We had our last 4th of July party with around 30 guests; we have been having the party for about 30 years now and it is getting to much for us. The usual cookout food. Most of the day was OK but we did have about one half hour of down pouring rain. We had a huge tent but a lot of us got wet, some soaking wet. But all had a good time ending with a huge fireworks display managed by our nephew. He does this on a part time basis so he knows his stuff. Note he still has all of his fingers also.
Life is short so make sure you spend as much time as possible on the Internet arguing with strangers.

My family watched three huge professional firework shows staged by the lakeside tourist towns. We watch each from a boat a mile out because, when a show finishes, the real danger is the unskilled and drunken drivers of the other boats racing to leave in the dark! That’s a better show than the fireworks.

It was the Alameda County Fair for us capped by an Oakland Symphony concert. They also accompanied a very nice fireworks show.
