Hi, I got a new mac Mini a year ago running Sequoia 15.6.1. My main BIAB interface works fine, and I hadn't had occasion to use the stylepicker since then. Now I want to use it but there is no volume for the tracks. I can't hear them. There is a grayed out slider bar on the screen that I haven't been able to access. Not sure if that's the problem. Here's some other info.
Yellow box shows correct .m4a file path. File plays in QuickTime. Full Disk Access granted, Use Internet checked, factory reset done, preferences folder deleted, full fresh reinstall done. Slider remains inaccessible regardless. BiaB 2023 build 707."
Any help would be appreciated. I'd rather not upgrade at this time if at all possible. Thank you so much.
Yes, the regular interface seems to work okay. Just not the style picker

Just for kicks, I connected my 2023 BIAB Audiophile drive to my Mac Studio running macOS Tahoe 26.5.1 and everything I tried worked including Style Picker and Audio.
I have no idea if Support will help you with a three year old copy but it doesn't hurt to ask. Chat is available during business hours.

When you double-click on a style in the StylePicker, is there a yellow message that says "Auditioning style..... https://demos.pgmusic.com.... " ? If you then close the StylePicker and go to Help | Utilities | Display log... find the URL and paste it into your web browser - does it download and play?
Thanks but they couldn't help. At this point my only choice is to upgrade. AI told me it had to do with my computer chip and rosetta...but that is beyond my paygrade, LOL! :-)
Hi Andrew, I have attached a screenshot of what happens when I try to audition the stylepicker. I do get a yellow box. Not a URL exactly but i have tracked down the corresponding demo and played it and it plays fine.
It appears that local audition playback is not working with older versions on Sequoia. Open the RealTracks/Data folder, and rename the Style Demos Audio folder (to anything, e.g. xStyle Demos Audio). This will force it to use the online demos instead, as long as you have "Use internet (if not found on disk)" checked.
There is something wrong with your setup. Not working for PG Music nor for Apple, I can't screen share to see what it is. I do notice that you state you're running over macOS 15.6.1. The current version of Sequoia is 15.7.7 and a whole lot of bugs have been squashed in the mean time.
You have allowed BIAB access to the Microphone in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone, right? If you haven't, this explains the problem. All audio apps must allow this. When you double-click on an m4a file, it's the System that's playing back the audio, not BIAB.
I have a Sequoia test Volume. Hooking up my 2023 BIAB Audiophile drive, my results were identical to my earlier Tahoe test: Everything works and auditioning Styles through the StylePicker resulted in the audio playing back as it should.
I then connected the drive to my new M5 Air running Tahoe and got the same results—everything fine.

Thank you so much for your help Andrew. I've attached a screen shot of my BIAB folder. I don't see exactly the folder you are referring to. I didn't find it under anything that was labeled Real Tracks. I tried renaming the one that's called Style Demos to xStyle Demos as you suggested and I do have the box checked to force the use of the internet, but that didn't work. Any other ideas? Again, it's appreciated!!!
Thank you SO much for all of your help Mike. I appreciate the effort, truly. I upgraded to Sequoia 15.7.7 (probably should have done that earlier, but I HATE upgrading as it always seems that something goes wrong. ;-) )
I do have the allow the use of the microphone checked in the security settings and it has been like that. I even downloaded and reinstalled the program since it was probably transferred over when I got the new computer.
It's such a mystery that the main interface works, but not the audio on the style picker.
Any other ideas? Everything worked just fine on my laptop. I didn't change anything except the computer.
I don't see exactly the folder you are referring to. I didn't find it under anything that was labeled Real Tracks.
I can see it in your screenshot - the folder "RealTracks" underneath Preferences... Open that folder, and then open the "Data" folder, and you should see "Style Demos Audio". That's the folder you should rename. The other folder, "Style Demos" in the main Band-in-a-Box folder, you should leave as is.
Thanks Andrew, So when I open that folder (Ive attached a screenshot) I get a long list of instruments as you can see and it goes all the way through vocals at the end. A Lot of scrolling. But I don't see a folder that's called "data" anywhere. Any other ideas. I so appreciate your help.
There is a file called data but it is not in the real tracks folder. should I rename this one. It has a lot of stuff in it, including a file called style pickers.
I am sorry Andrew. You were right. I just didn't see the data folder in the long list of instruments...but I looked again and it was there. Did what you suggested and it works now. Thank you very much.
I plan to try BIAB 2023 with the macOS 27 Beta 3 this afternoon. BIAB 2026 Audiophile worked when testing basic functionality yesterday.
Just for kicks, I ran BIAB 2223 Audiophile from the external drive over the Golden Gate Beta 3 on my Studio M2 Ultra. Didn't play with it too long but everything I tried worked. Rosetta 2 has to be installed for either version, of course.
