Hallo biab ers
I am wondering if it is possible to feed Band in a Box, from a by wire connected Midi keyboard, with chords, so Band in a Box immediately responds with playing music based on those chords and the currently selected style.

BiaB is a tool to address a different task, which it does extremely well.
What you want is an "Arranger". There are a couple or so software ones and a number of MIDI keyboards that do it.
vArranger might suit if an arranger keyboard is over budget.
BackupBand is also pretty good and easier to use, but it's Linux only and looks very "VGA Graphics". Overlook that and it's surprisingly good.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.

Good tools are not necessary for free I am not using arrangers ... BackupBand Sounds interesting to investigate. As I am an experienced Linux user, I will check it out and let you know my experience and opinion BackupBand explained by its creator. https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?t=25250BackupBand simulates a trio of musicians who play drums, bass, and guitars. They follow your chord changes as you play in realtime, in a variety of about 70 different styles. Found on https://wiki.linuxaudio.org/apps/all/backupband20 aug 2021 ... BackupBand is a music auto-arranger. It has a virtual drummer, bassist, and rhythm guitarist. These 3 “musicians” follow your chord changes live. What you described is an arranger. While that does exit in BiaB You already have the band. If you just want to play along there is a Thru channel in the mixer. From the manual: The Thru track for play-along on an outboard MIDI device or with the Band-in-a-Box Wizard feature. The advantage of this is that if you make a mistake the rest of the band plays on. Nothing is missing but a few notes.

There is a function in BIAB to send the Thru channel out to an external device. At one point I used something called a Voice Live Touch that could harmonize a BIAB MIDI track based on the block chords fed from BIAB. But as far as I know, that’s as far as BIAB can be used to assist anything to do a live arrangement. BIAB is designed to make accompaniment backing tracks. Those tracks can be frozen so the backing track is always the same, but that’s not what BIAB does uniquely best.
