Just getting back to BIAB after a lengthy hiatus and I am trying to install my 2020 version of BIAB into my Lenovo P350 workstation. This install was a new purchase by myself back in Christmas 2019, and it was never installed (life got in the way). I have two solid state drives in my computer with a capacity of 512gb each. I currently have my music oriented activities loaded into E: drive so it is separate from all my other activities. I was trying to install my BIAB option 3 into E: but I am unsuccessful. I also tried the install from "run as administrator" with no success. Are there any hints out there on what I may be doing wrong, or is the actual BIAB software written so that the actual BIAB part of the install has to be installed in C: drive. Any kind of attention to my query would be appreciated. Thanks, Dennis

You can install BIAB on any drive of your choice. A few small files like fonts will be on Drive C.
Can you tell us more about error messages you are getting?

Matt, thanks for prompt reply. As I stated earlier, I am trying to install a new un-installed version of a 2020 BIAB UltraPak into a new computer. No previous BIAB installs on it. The accompanying "read me" with this software states the entire BIAB and RB files are included with the accompanying external hard drive. My internal E:drive is a 1TB with a r/w pseed of 2400/1900 MB/s. I understand that is fast enough for the program to effectively process information. Since the best option is to load all the files on an internal hard drive, I would like to use my E: drive as I have lots of capacity there. So I went to Option 3 and selected "Destination Locations" for the downloads, and changed the default C: drives indicated there into E: drives. I tried it a few times and got the same message which read "You need to select different folder for RB and BIAB". Maybe the software is written so BIAB has to be loaded into C:drive?? Anyway I am hoping to get back into the "swing of things" and be able to load my old BIAB song files, etc. Once successful in that I intend on upgrading My BIAB to a current version. Thanks for your attention. Dennis

I can assure you the program is not forced onto Drive C. Only a few files need to be on your boot drive, like PG fonts for notation.
For best practice I normally install a program and its data on separate drives if the data on the drive is accessed frequently or is very large. BIAB qualities both ways.
After you do an install using one of the four options, if the program and the RealTracks/Drums are on different drives (as I say, good practice), then you must go to Preferences. RealTracks and specify where they are. Same steps for RealDrums. And you must do an install; it is not enough just to copy all the files.

Biab must go to it's own folder, in your case you want to use E:\bb
Realtrfacks should go to E:\Realtracks.
They have to be in their own folders for the program to work.
Maybe try that.

It’s been decades since I did a new install, but I recall the installer supplies default locations on drive C and all you should need to do is change the drive letter. Perhaps someone who did this recently could verify.
You can put BIAB pretty much anywhere except for either of the /Program Files folders.

Thanks for the comments. I used to be quite intelligent when doing this stuff however my hiatus definitely affected memories. When I go into option 3 install of the program the destination window shows Biab, Realband, etc all on separate lines and defaulting to C: drive. As I stated earlier when I change all the defaults to E: drive I get the message. I think I'll try setting up a BB folder, a RealBand folder etc, in my E:drive and see what happens. If that doesn't work I'll try loading Biab into C:drive (with song files defaulted to E:drive), Then I'll try Realband , and other programs into E:drive. If that doesnt work I'll Keep working backwords. I'll experiment and let you know my success or failures. Thanks Dennis

The 'normal' paths if you put BiaB onto a separate drive would be like the following:
E:/bb/
E:/bb/Drums
E:/bb/RealTracks
E:/RealBand
One can put Drums and RealTracks anywhere.
BiaB has a setup somewhere for the paths,
IIRC the installer asks you to specify, and also within BiaB is Options->Preferences the setting are in the ReadDrums and RealTracks sub-dialogs.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11
BIAB2026 Audiophile, a bunch of other software.
Kawai MP6, Ui24R, Focusrite Saffire Pro40 and Scarletts

Thanks Matt, rHarv, Gordon, for the replies. I got the folders set up. For some reason? I had to make new folders in E: drive first before the default loading would work. It appears that I now have RT, RB, and Drums installed on E: drive. My final "tree" looks like the one Gordon sent. Now all I have to do is try to remember how to use the program. There appears to a lot of videos out regarding using BIAB

Two things can help others, including those of us giving advice:
1) go back to your first post and click on Mark as Resolved
2) let us know if this worked only after you created the folders on drive E
