Here's an original Christmas song entitled "Christmas Cat ".

technical information:
Melody, instrumentation, and arrangement were created in Biab using VSC-DXI.
Audio tracks were recorded and combined with the MIDI tracks in PowerTracks.
Sound Forge and Melodyne were also employed in the production.
Final compressed wave file created with the lowly Sound Recorder of Window's Xp.

If you are interested, you can also find a few other Christmas tunes by clicking
"More Songs" at the bottom of the page. Each one of these compositions started
life in Biab.

Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy it.
Merry Christmas

The only thing that can kill me in short order is a cat. So I eschew them. Severe almost instant asthma. Except for a few, my son has one that's on it's last legs (thank god) and can't get upstairs. I don't get the logic of housing an animal that defecates in your house. And you get to buy stuff for poo and then you get to clean it up. Jeez.

Please don't do one about a border collie. Mine has gone to the big dog house in the sky, or become a cricket if I'm a Buddhist today. He was yipping on about nirvana. That dog cracked everyone up, he said hello when you came in the door. Literally. It was a yawn with the word, but he did it every time.

I digress, Cats. Achoo. Eschew. No thanks. Wait! do they taste like crock e dial? Cause those taste like chicken. Yum. Meow.

Nice deal tres drole.

I think it needs .................................

scoll down

Whoops was that a criticism or a witticism or better yet, both?

Cowbell!

Another point where the MIDI-only BIAB camp retains clear superiority. Cowbell is part of the General MIDI specs (instrument 56), and yet even with the 2011 release, PG Music has thoughtlessly failed to provide us with a Cowbell RealTrack.

The harmony is refreshingly different, and the guitar instrumental reminded me of my halcyon days of youth spent at the local arcade listening to the Bubble Bobble theme song.

One small criticism - a trifle so minor that I hesitate to draw to your attention. You've carefully crafted a song strongly rooted in reality with elements including Santa and a magical cat - and then expect your listener to believe that a man would - on his own, without compelling motivation - RTFM? Such a suspension of disbelief for such an unusual element of this magnitude would require at least a couplet, if not a quatrain, setting out the emotional turmoil the singer experienced which lead to such an atypical action.

This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that that never RTFM
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,

Wow...my mind is a clutter....

Move over Raffi!
Beautiful singalong, loved it.

A manual? Never entered my mind but a nice twist.

I think you covered the RTFM (had to look it up on the net )
issue well.

Merry Christmas

Actually John. I was thinking about doing a border collie Christmas song which of course would
require lots of cowbells since there aren't any sheepbells sounds in the VSC. That reminds me.
Did you know that border collies, as well as many other intelligent dogs, will alert their owners
when Santa arrives. All you have to do ask them "Where is Santa?", and, if they agree to talk,
they will always say "woof, woof, woof"....

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Actually, Ian, this tune started out as a children's song, "I love my Christmas cat...", for my five year
old grand daughter, but I didn't know where else to take it. She likes it, but not as well as singing
Charlie Brown along with me.

Now that’s funny

Great lyrics! Super vox and an outstanding mix.

Although I’m deathly allergic to cats I have one question. Can I borrow it for a week?

Super song.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Pretty good stuff -- good twist in the "tale". I gotta admit I haven't listened to a midi-only song in a long time (ha, ha).

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
