Every time I save a song in BIAB 2023, I get an error message "Exception. EOS error in module bbw64.exe etc..."
I have the latest windows update installed. When I open the file again it seems fine. Any ideas?

I think we need more information than "EOS error in module bbw64.exe etc"
Send the complete error message to PG Music Support.

Also, your post implies that the song is actually being saved, then you get the error message. Is that correct?

Are you saving it to a USB drive? If so, have you turned off Selective Suspend in the Control Panel power options for USB devices?

In the past PGMusic has recommened the following when the message occurs:

Quote:
Try running Band-in-a-Box as administrator. You can do this by right clicking on the Band-in-a-Box shortcut and selecting Run as administrator. Do you still experience the access violation error?

Not sure if this is still applicable with Win 11 and 2023?

I think it is still applicable. I looked up EOS Error in Windows and got nowhere, so we do need the details in the “etc” part of the error message.

And yes, Access Violations can often be solved by Run as Administrator. Good idea. We just don’t know yet if that’s the error here.

Thanks Matt.
Yes it gets saved to a USB drive and always has.
I didn't have that message before I updated to version 1006 a week or so ago.

Thanks. I tried that yesterday but it didn't make a difference.

Oh! That’s important, that it started with build 1006.

I’ll pass this along to the developers.

Thanks again Matt. The etc. part is as follows:

The tech people have just asked me to go back and install 1004 and 1006 upgrades but I assume that will mean I will lose the latest 1006.

Ok. I take that to mean they want to check that something did indeed change between build 1004 and 1006. Do the experiment and report back.

I installed 1004 and then reinstalled 1006. Great! So far no error messages.

What device do you use for Audio on the computer? E.g. is it a separate sound card or external hardware?

I don't think this bug is specifically caused by build 1006, so you might notice it returning. It is more likely related to the song and/or style that you are using. If any of the RealTracks names in the Mixer are preceded by N/A then it is more likely to happen. This can usually be resolved by clicking on Rebuild and Fix inside the RealTracks Picker - assuming all the RealTracks in the song are actually installed but Band-in-a-Box just needs to find them.

The bug will be fixed in build 1007.

Thanks Blake for investigating and providing feedback on the potential cause. It's appreciated. It's always good to know the fundamental cause of issues, especially ones that go away by themselves ('cause they come back by themselves too!).

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
