Hi,

Since installing BIAB 2019 today my Realtracks sets 301 and above are all N/A and therefore unusable. I have tried rebuilding the Realtracks and Styles on numerous occasions and also used all the tools in the RT Preferences but no success - please advise solution.
NB I notice I now have a weird 800 set of N/A Realtracks as well.

Hi Nigel,

As far as I can make out, set 800 is from one of the bonus packs.

Are the N/A RTs in both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of the software?

Also, did you install over the top of an existing \bb installation (this is the method that a number of people on the forum use, myself included)?

Lastly, was there a time when you had RTs sets 301-328 working? (These are the new 2019 tracks.)

  • For what it's worth, I'm just sitting at the moment wondering if maybe these RTs didn't install properly for you. If they didn't, they can always be downloaded adn reinstalled. They are found by logging-in into your Sales account and then going to the "My Products" area.

To check if the 2019 RTs were installed, navigate to \bb\Realtracks and have a look if there are folders present with the names of Realtracks found on the below webpage. These are the new ones. (The "Drums" Realtracks will not be found under \Realtracks, they will have been installed under \bb\Drums.)

Hi Noel,

Thanks for your two detailed replies - much appreciated.

I installed BIAB 2019 V...04 from memory Stick from PG Music over BIAB 2018 as suggested.

I just checked my folders as you suggested and you are right - no new Realtracks have been installed - the most recent are dated July 22, 2018.

I noticed that the upgrade to BIAB 2019 froze twice during installation - once at the start (then burst into life after 10 minutes), then again at end of upgrade. I left it for 30 minutes and it was still frozen so I shut it down via Windows Task Manager.

My BIAB is installed in C:\BB and my realtracks are on an external drive F:\bb\realtracks.

What do you suggest?

Thanks again and Best Regards
Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Seems like we're getting somewhere.

The Realtrack installation files should be on the memory stick. If it was the PlusPak upgrade that you purchased, there would be three or four .exe files of these. From experience, these files are usually around 1.0-1.8 GB big. It's just a matter of installing each of the exe files independently.

If they are not on the memory stick, log-in into your Sales account and go the the "My Products" area. The files should also be there for download. Once downloaded, they could then be manually installed.

Regards,
Noel

P.S. If perchance you don't see the 2019 RT files, register your latest purchase and the files will show up.

Hi Noel,

Again - thanks for your advice. I did a complete reinstall of BIAB2019 and it appears to have worked OK this time with all new Realtracks and Styles now available.
Maybe PG Music could advise customers what to expect when they upgrade i.e. two long pauses during installation where nothing appears to be taking place i.e. a 10 minute pause after initial screens showing Contract agreement and install folders and another much longer pause (30 minutes plus) after initial downloading of new software and realtracks. During these pauses Task Manager shows the install is "Not Responding" and there is no Disc or CPU activity.

Best Regards

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
