They are not alone. There is an uproar over on the Kontakt site because Kontakt 6 eliminated the all important database. So if you want an oboe sound for example you have to remember where it was located. Many of us have a lot of Kontakt and third part patches so that database was important.

To be fair, I have used Kontakt (and tons of other music software products) and have never seen an upgrade that had broken features anything like the BIAB VST.

I totally agree. I just wanted to report that PGMusic's site isn't the only one in an update uproar!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

+1 for the lost features !

I was astonished missing out on old, useful features in the song picker after having skipped a few versions of Biab.
Really annoying.....

Kind regard
Stefan

I have just installed 2019-613 and realized what a mess PGMusic has made with the song picker. There has been a lot of discussion here about the feature, but I didn't really understand what the issues really were or how bad the problem was.

For me, it starts immediately with the notion of a "Home Folder". I don't have all my songs in one single folder, let alone one in c/BB. My songs are well organized in several folders and exist on a jump drive. Each folder has it's own song list, and was shown in previous version of BIAB whenever I opened that folder. Now it's almost impossible to get to a specific folder and songlist. And then you can't sort the list - and I can't even figure out what the default order is.

As has been said many times in this thread - give us back the 2018 version until the 2019 works properly. I don't have any need for these fancy filters, at least none that I can see right now, so let's get a WORKING version of the song picker back in the hands of the users.

The beta testers could never have missed such a glaring error. This problem lies squarely with PGMusic.

Sigh.... another update and still no fix for the song picker. Will once again have to reinstall 2018 before my show tonight.

I am still struggling with songpicker for 2019. I can work around the issue of needing all my songs in one folder by creating a dummy folder which contains all my other song folders, and I can filter the folder of songs I want by my naming convention, but I can't figure out the sequence that the songs are listed in. It doesn't appear to be alpha by song name or file name, it's not date nor style. I don't even know if it's different if I close and reopen the songpicker. I do know that "Next Song" and Previous Song" short cuts work exactly as the did in 2018. But they are no use with the new songpicker.

So frustrating... It needs to be fixed

Additionally, the song appear to be sorted by default in folder/sub-folder order and not alphabetically.

Please re-introduce the original important functionality.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
