SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Free KONTAKT 6 PLAYER (download from NI website) or KONTAKT 6. Please make sure to update to the latest version. The instrument will not work in earlier versions!
Well I have the Full Kontakt 5. I assume I can continue with the Kontak 5 and its content and also install the Kontakt 6 for this new content. Can anyone confirm that?
A bit disappointed, honestly it is no simple task keeping all the registration managers happy with software updates. I used to try to keep things active on both my desktop and laptop but gave that up a while back. It was generally doable but took too much effort on my part.
Native Access Licence Manager handles all my Kontakt stuff. I hope it will not get confused with Kontakt 5 and Kontakt 6 along with the Session guitarist Strummed acoustic using 5 and now picked acoustic using 6-Player. I guess we will find out.
I am intrigued by Picked Acoustic! I already own Session Guitarist Strummed Acoustic I & II and really love them both.
I was ready to fork over the $99. BUT, when I saw it requires Kontakt 6 I kinda lost interest. I'm quite happy with Kontakt 5 and really don't wanna upgrade that or add the free 6 player to complicate things.
I guess I'll wait until you guys give the all clear (or until they drop the price on Black Friday!)
I have another recommendation if you want a really cool library with tons of picking as well as strum patterns and that is RealGuitar 5 from MusicLab. I had the original Classic and upgraded when they released the Steel version. The best part about it for me is it has some awesome picking patterns that are super easy to use. You build your song with chords using a cool chord selector and then export to your DAW for additional processing.
I'm the same, I'll wait and see if Dan makes it back alive after installing Kontakt 6. Yea, RealGuitars, you can also send midi out to a Kontakt guitar of another Virtual Instrument.
Just ordered it (along with the $10 e-voucher I had in my account, so it's $89 instead of $99). I already have Kontakt 6, so that's not an issue.
Looking forward to playing with it, since it seems to have some nice riffs. Since my guitar finger-picking buddy and I now live in different states, I don't have access to his finger-picking on some of our songs, so this will be a nice way to emulate that virtually.

I purchased Session Player Picked Acoustic to try it out. I don’t have Kontakt per se but do have Kontakt Player 6. Picked Acoustic works fine but I find it a bit restrictive in patterns.
I do like the tone of the session guitar albeit I like some of the riffs out of AmpleSound better. I find I am able to export or play and record the midi out of AmpleSound then using the “melody” section of the Picked Acoustic get the sound of the Native Instruments guitar. This then gives me what I want.
I’m not really using it in earnest as such but it is a way of learning more and I find some of my best stuff initially comes by accident.

Yes, the riffer riffs in Ample you can use them on other Virtual Instruments, I think I used a midi remap plugin to remap the keyswitches to kontakt. RapidComposer it great for fitting patterns with keyswitches to any key/chord. Biab-RapidComposer-Ample Bass Win/Mac
OK, it is done. I installed Kontakt 6 Player and SG Picked Acostic. Native Access Licence Manager handles all my Kontakt stuff.
Put it into a current Reaper project mix with Session Guitarist Strummed Acostic II (Kontakt 5) and a host of BIAB midi and real-tracks and instant music.
Started searching for different patterns looking for a good fit and then I stumbled upon "syncopation 108 - 111" and it was like the lights went on! Very cool, very inspirational. If I can fit my vocals into this mix it will be worth the cost just for this one tune.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
