It's a good thing you plucked this from the bin.

I particularly like the line "The days would not grow shorter and chase the light away."

Instrumentation is an excellent fit for this song,

This is definitely a keeper and one that so many folks can relate to.

There are dates and songs that are so strongly associated with sad events that we choose to disregard them.

Your lovely melody fits the lyric perfectly and your vocals are good.
You've already received a lot of good suggestions regarding vocal processing and we will only add a big +1 for the power and versatility of Nectar.

Very good choice of RT’s and RD.

Well done,

J&B

Good write - personal, but vague enough to be general.

I agree with others - good vocal and backing, just do some work on that vocal processing.

Glad you kept it!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks for giving it a listen Scott ... and I appreciate the the use of your ears!

Robert, thanks for the listen and the suggestion. I'm not sure I can pull it off, but I'll give it some thought.

Thank you for stoppin' in to give it a listen Alan. Hope Di is doing well today. I just listened again to the post you did with her voice!

Thanks for the suggestion Ray. I appreciate it, but it's often a little over my head a little ... but I keep reaching. For instance I'm not sure what you mean by proximity effect or the fundamental peak - am I just a little to close or far from the mic when laying the vocal?

Glad you listened Marty. I'll try and take you up on that encouragement. With Christmas just around the corner now, things around here are getting a little busier, so I could use a little musical break.

I'm glad you liked it Shigeki and appreciate you giving it a listen. I've got a quite a way to go before I can get the type of sounds and production you're putting together though.

You called it Vic! I'm never quite satisfied with my vocal recordings. I think Torrey Bliss does a lot of vocal doubling and I like his stuff, so I thought I'd try it. This was my first attempt.

Hey thanks for giving it a try and the comment Scott. If I only had a vocal like yours I'd have it made!

Janice and Bud, thanks so much for listening. I appreciate your comments. Your music consistently proves you know what your talking about. I haven't looked up Nectar yet, but hope to once things slow down a little for me.

Thank you David. I'll get to work on that PM you sent as soon as I can - hopefully today.

Thanks for the comment Andi. My wife and daughter are going to be visiting your part of the world soon and we've been keeping an eye on the weather, Whew! It's getting a bit chili over there!

I agree with everyone that this song is a winner

I also agree that the vocal could use a little work

The band was perfect for the lyrics

I know about losses this time of year. Five years ago between mid October to mid November we had to put our three dogs down. Not a happy time. But just before Thanksgiving we did get two puppies that cheered everyone up.

Keep the faith my friend.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
