Ok so now I know you don't have an external hardware sound device & you have a HP desktop tower running windows 7. Cajun I am not sure if you have an internal soundcard that has ASIO drivers? Anyway to be able to monitor the input signal and record direct with the amplitude effect you will need a device that has ASIO. You can record your guitar thru the mic or line input and then add the amplitude effect to it after you record it on a track without having ASIO though if you want to go that route. Let us know any other info you might have about the internal sound card you have.

Forgive me guy's but like i mentioned before...i'm not very computer smart
so if my computer won't accept ASIO ....i can get an external hardware sound device to hook to my computer?

how much do one of these cost...and whats a pretty good one?....and that is the correct name of them...an external hardware sound device?
