I reckon some of you and not just Aussies will have come across Byron Bay. It's on the easternmost point of Australia and apart from being home to Bluesfest - now a major adult music festival - it attracts around 2 million visitors a year to its beaches, subtropical climate and alt lifestyle charms. I was drawn here myself around 10 years ago. As the years have gone by and I've gotten older I've noticed the visitors get younger and miraculously more beautiful. Go figure! Well this is a song about that. The song will explain the rest.

People here are so damn beautiful
People here are so damn young
People here have so much time to spend
They can spend it all day in the sun
Or so it seems to you and me baby
As we change down another gear
Everything about us makes us strangers here

The views from the seaside mansions
God they’re so damn fine
Perhaps in another universe
I could even make them mine
While you and me baby we sit around
Staring at the bottom of our beers
Everything about us makes us strangers here

Another macca latté in the neighbourhood
A little more loving while the going’s good
You’re Piscean honey I can tell from your eyes
Everything about us makes us strangers here

People here are so damned earnest babe
They say they wanna change the world
And everybody’s in such a hurry
Before the day turns cold
But you and me baby we know all that
We’re still swinging from the chandeliers
Everything about us makes us strangers here
