I think the 1-3-5 and the 1-4-5 is the only place to start. Especially when you are fresh and absorbing like the sponge,
(all twelve majors.)
Just yesterday I was working with relative minor pentatonics. Know the 5's, the 6's are easy. (C-F-G-A) In C it is A.
Know the 6 and the 1-4-5 and the harmonizing relative minors of the progression are easy. In C-F-G it is A-D-E.
No matter what key or progression they call for you can figure it out on the fly,
