I have a MacBook Pro with the latest BIAB Mac version on it......... I also have parallels installed .

Is there anyone who has installed the Windows version ?

Is there any advantage using the Windows version ?

Has anyone installed both versions on their Mac and what are your thoughts ?

Thanks
Ron

Wouldn’t you need two separate licenses for that? One for each platform.

Yes I am sure you do......I was wondering am I the only strange one who would like to have this?

Just really curious and I like to support Canadian Companies. :-)

I did exactly that on my 2013 MacBook Pro for at least 5 years (2015-2020).
Until a few years ago the Mac version of BIAB was, in my opinion, inferior to the windows version.

So I ran parallels and BIAB win under Parallels on my mac.

It worked just fine. Probably slower but not annoying in performance.
I found it an acceptable approach.

I just recently purchased BIAB Mac 2021 so I'm going to once again give the Mac version a go. I understand the two products are better than 95% identical. I can live with close enough.

I've always hated running parallels, VM's in general annoy me. I do realize that the VM world has improved significantly.

I believe with the release of 2021 Mac BIAB there is no reason to run the win version under Parallels.

I am very interested in your take on the newest Mac version compared to the newest PC version.. You are experienced in both versions and you can speak some authority.

I shall be watching this thread with interest and anticipation

I have both and also run Parallels.

The biggest advantage of having the PC version is that it gives better ability to work with the Stylemaker, especially if you use external MIDI files when making your own styles.

Other than this, the development team has done an excellent job of closing the “gaps” between the Mac and PC version over the last few years.

On a side note, I was impressed with how fast the PC version ran on Parallels.

From my own day-to-day use of BIAB on both Windows and Mac, I can agree with mrgeeze's assessment that the programs seem to be about 95% identical. In general, we have less tech support issues with the Mac version, simply because the Mac platform is more stable regarding audio drivers and such.

The major difference is that the Windows version includes our DAW, RealBand, which is basically a DAW with Band-in-a-Box support built in. You can read about it here: https://www.pgmusic.com/rbwin.htm

Simon

I would like to access your knowledge base by asking you a question...

Does this mean that the "Pro" Version has this feature ?

Ron,

All packages (Pro, Mega, Ultra & Audiophile) of Band-in-a-Box for Windows includes RealBand.

Well, with all the excitement over BIAB 2022 *** FOR WINDOWS *** I am once again wondering if I wouldn't be better off running the Windows version on my Mac, using Parallels.

As part of that contemplation, I'm wondering whether I'd be able to bring all the RealTracks files from my Mac installation over to Windows, or if I'd need to purchase and download all new versions.

Would love to hear from anyone actively using BIAB in this way now.
