Hi,
In a 4 chorus song, how do you change solo instruments? Like if chorus 2 is sax and you want chorus 3 guitar?
Also, I know this is a basic question and I tried looking in search. I put soloist in subject, search all forums and nothing came up. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Gary,
The ability to make Soloist medleys was newly introduced with BIAB 2011. If you have an earlier version of the software, it's necessary to use Realband to do what you want.
If you have ver. 2011, though, have look under Start Menu | Band In A Box and there's a pdf file that explains how to use the new features, including the Soloist Medley feature.
It's also worthwhile looking at the "50 new Features in Band-in-a-Box 2011 for Windows" thread in this forum. It's fourth from the top. In this video, Peter Gannon explains all about the new features of BIAB 2011 including how to create Soloist medleys.

Hi,
I'm just wondering how to change solo instruments. Are you saying this is known as a solo melody if you want to change instruments between choruses while soloing?

Hi Gary, I interpreted your original post as referring to Realtracks solos. If that was the case, my understanding is that these are called Soloist Medleys (not melody). The below image is from page 15 of the "New Features in 2011 / Quickstart Tutorial" pdf found under Start Menu | Band In A Box.  If, however, you are meaning MIDI solos, then these are inserted using the "Custom" option of the Soloist creation tool (accessed via the yellow "S" on the tool bar). Hope this helps, Noel

Hi,
You're right that's what I was looking for. So I guess I need ver 11 to switch solo instruments during a song. No wonder I couldn't find it, I have ver 10.5

Gary, Since you have ver. 2010.5, what you want can still be accomplished but it is necessary to use Realband. Simply open the BIAB file in RB and it will unfold it into a "once through" song. Then all you need to do is to select the region of bars where you want the Soloist to play, right-click, choose "Select and Generate Realtrack", choose your RT and then hit OK. You can do this for as many RTs as you want in different regions of the song.
