Hello forum members. This is one of the few songs from the last millennium that I still like enough to try to put together a listenable version. I always loved this style of ballads. I remember when publishers would ask "Who would you pitch this song to?" which made me wonder what their job was. The first time I heard Martina McBride, I thought "that's the voice for a ballad like this". Unfortunately, she never heard this song and may have thrown the cassette out the window (still the cassette era) if she had. I would still love to hear her sing it. I can do it no justice but here it is anyway. I used piano (liverpool) and the bass that accompanies it (have used this duo often). The strings are Eastwest Silver, and the drums are EZDrummer. Comments very much encouraged. As Floyd would say "Have at it!" Take care. Greg

SHELTER FOR YOUR HEART

Sometimes this world just gets unfair
Sometimes good fortune will desert us
Though we may try our best to always be prepared
As long as we’re alive, our lives can hurt us

And though I know that you are strong
And you have purpose and direction
We all get lost sometimes, and need a place to belong
And our hearts need some protection

When you feel lonely and abandoned like a ship out on the sea
I hope that you will chart a course for me

I’ll be the shelter for your heart
I’ll guard the dream that keeps you hoping
When this world has pushed you past the point of coping
I won’t let you fall apart
I’ll be the shelter for your heart
The shelter for your heart

Well I’ve been wounded in the past
I’ve felt my heart just break inside me
When I’ve felt buried by the shadows life has cast
You have been the angel sent to guide me

And I will always love you for the times you’ve pulled me through
So whenever heartache finds its way to you

I’ll be the shelter for your heart
I’ll guard the dream that keeps you hoping
When this world has pushed you past the point of coping
I won’t let you fall apart

When you feel empty and afraid
And when your doubt has come to blind you
I’ll be the morning sun you thought would never find you
I’ve been waiting from the start
To be the shelter for your heart
The shelter for your heart
