It seems that many users have extra sub-folders following the clean-up routine.
In the meantime, it would be fine if PG Music people described clearly what is the typical organization of the folders and subfolders. So, users could made some adjustements regarding their own BIAB folder.
The ability to get more information about the file reorganization process would clarify and remove many concerns that users have.
A 'final' result list and identification of abnormalities / unexpected results would be very helpful. This should also be able to be saved / sent to PGM for analysis.

I would first like to see what the clean new folder structure is supposed to look like. Then I will consider supporting solutions. And do we know how big a problem this is? Any trouble I’ve read about has been solved by running Cleanup again.

I agree - it would be nice to see what the default folder structure looks like...actually, I'll take another look at the USB hard drive, as I suspect it will show what the default look should be.

I'm supporting this primarily because I believe that a 'final' result list and identification of abnormalities / unexpected results would be very helpful.

Here is the result of running the command prompt "tree" command on the BIAB/RB external USB hard drive. I only use it as a backup, so I'll caveat this with 1) it's as I received it from PGMusic, and 2) post release, there were some changes made to where certain folders are, so this won't be definitive, but will be close.
I have multiple reasons for the clean-up routine to be an option versus automatic as it is now.
1) The RealTracks Picker and RealDrums Picker frequently do not find the locations for all RealTracks or RealDrums thus returning N/A when the material is available.
2) Add-ons are not structured in a consistent manner.
3) Some users developed their own file structure and the clean-up routine interferes with maintenance of their personal file structure.
The clean-up routine is a good idea but not fully developed. I believe it should be an option until it can manage all PG Music files in a consistent manner.
I do see your point, but I think they have to go all in if they go at all. I've had to advise people to re-run the Cleanup utility because there is nothing worse than files half organized. As for finding RealDrums and RealTracks in custom locations, that was always a possibility.
You were right to raise the problem; I'm just not committed to one solution yet.

Presently there is no choice; if you install 2018 BiaB for Windows the routine runs. All I'm asking for is for users that have not yet installed 2018 to have the option to opt-out if they desire to.
How to identify and fix issues caused by running the routine is a different discussion.

I get it. I’m normally in favor of user choice. The programming professor in me can’t agree with it here, though. What happens when someone opts out? Now there must be two different folder organizations. The number of programming modifications required to support the two systems is huge, fraught with the potential of mistakes as the future development moves forward. At what point can we go back to one system, and who decides when? Or do we live with two organizations always?

I remember asking for that some time back so you don't have 10,000 files in the root. 2018 won't work without changing the folder structure, and RealBand looks for the new clean structure to work also. See the Mac structure below.
Yes, somehow my preference is to certainly tidy up the folders (that root folder was just used as a massive dumping ground for anything and everything). But I think a reporting tool that explains unexpected results to the user - which can be sent to PGM also, would be very beneficial.

In 2023 it's better. I don't believe the cleanup executable automatically runs after a major (new year release for example) update. In fact I don't believe the executable is automatically invoked at all. But it is available for a user to manually run whenever they desire.
