I want to change from flute (HI-Q 07401 Flute) to muted trumpet (GM 60 Muted Trumpet) in the melody track. I do so by selecting the GM patch in mixer, patches tab. Then the new intrument just get added to the old and both instrument are visible in the track window. When playing I can only hear the flute. What am I doing wrong.

I think changing patches and RTs sometimes is a bit buggy. Erase track via 'track settings' doesn't seem to work too. Just figured out how to get rid of persistent non removable old patch changes from an imported midifile: via the green 'Sequencer Window' button. Maybe Kent can have a look at this? F

Hi
Because the high Q require to come from the Sforzando or Sample tank synth from which they are called . these are not GM synths.
So to get a GM patch on the track instead you must remove the HQ instrument by clicking on insert midi patch but then take the top option select HQ, when the list pops up at the top you will find “no preset wanted remove /clear any current preset
Now select your midi voice patch as normal.

Rolf, As Mike has said, the problem arises because a non-GM-MIDI synth has been added to the Melody track to play the HiQ sound. To get the effect that you want, copy the Melody track to the Soloist track. Now... 1. Set the Melody track to the HiQ sound. 2. Set the Soloist track to the Trumpet sound. 3. Right click in the middle of Bar 1 on the chord sheet and select "Bar Settings" (F5 is the shortcut key if you are using Windows BIAB). 4. Mute the Soloist track. 5. Right click on the bar where you want the flute to exit and the trumpet to enter and select "Bar Settings" again. This time mute the Melody track and bring the Soloist track 'back to normal'. 6. Generate the song. Now it should work for you. Regards, Noel
