Still in revision mode
I seem to remember before if I entered 1 6 2 5 in a keyboard each entry per bar, I got the following C, Am, Dm, G7. Now I am getting C, A, D, G - all major chords.
Maybe I have upset a setting somewhere, but where is it?
thanks

I get the same thing if I enter a 1, 6, 2, 5 in the key of C - C A D G
However if I enter the following: 1, 6m, 2m, 5 in the key of C, I get the following: C Am Dm G
Perhaps you forgot that you need to specify if it is to be a minor chord in the diatonic scale by pressing M

I only have one remaining brain cell, which I overwork, so this is a possibility.

Using Nashville notation, BIAB has always required the m or 7, etc., after the numeral.
Thus, while 1, 6, 2, 5 from a classical theory perspective is interpreted as C, Am, Dm, G (in the key of C major) or Cm, Ab, Dmb5, G (in the key of C minor), in Nashville notation (which BIAB uses naturally if one wants to type chords using numerals), 1, 6, 2, 5 would be C, A, D, G.

Which is wrong. If using Nashville notation it is ALWAYS, to us road warriors implied that 2, 3, 6 are minor, 1,5, 4 are major and 7 dim. I've tried and tried to get this remedied.

We need a "modal" button option for chord entry by number.

I disagree. While it's certainly true theory has those chords as minor most of the time (see my post about Scale Tone 7ths in another thread), I don't want Biab to try to out think a user. Biab should play exactly what you entered, if you want a chord to be a minor then include the m.

Nah Bob, If you're working in "NASHVILLE Notation" aka Country, you are playing using the diatonic scale most all the time .I do agree if you are entering chord names then they must be spelled out as BIAB doesn't know what scale you are using .

Actually...THIS is wrong. The Nashville Number System does NOT imply minors (or 7 dim). They are called out specifically. A minor is designated by following the chord number by a minus sign. Sevenths are designated by an explicit superscript 7. Diminished chords are designated by a superscript circle.

Well all I will say is that in 54 years of stage performance and fill in with bands I have never had anyone call out chords to me saying 2minor. I can't read lips that well.If someone is calling out chords they only call out the out of scale ones. "Road Warrior" is the key.

When I said "called out specifically" I was not referring to on-stage "calling (shouting) out chord". I was referring to Notation - as in writing out the chord charts. If you take a Nashville Number chord chart into a studio in Nashville and it has a "2" on it and not a "2-" - the session players will play a major chord - not a minor.

Floyd this is interesting. I certainly believe what you said about session players. I had the system explained to me by a number of Nashville road players. I guess the "session" players and the "road" players still don't see it the same. LOL

What I am saying is that it would be good to have an option. Some think one way and some another, I am in the modal camp. If there were an option to "enter chords modally" IT WOULD BE USEFUL. then, with this ticked if you wanted a 2 chord in C it could be default minor, then if required spelt major. Rather than the other way round. This is how most tunes are. This way we can choose in prefs

ZeroZero, Your idea for a modal preference reads like it would be useful. Why not repost the idea in the +++ Band-in-a-Box Wishlist +++ forum section? That way other users will have an opportunity to properly discuss the idea and either express support or concerns.
