I have BIAB 2021. I am using Casio px-360 midi keyboard and windows 10 laptop. I am having problems recording a melody line using my midi keyboard because it is not listed in BIAB. The device is listed in control panel as working but not showing up in BIAB. Could someone please help me resolve this?
Then I don't know. I looked up your keyboard, and it's an expensive one with a standard USB output. I can't imagine why it's not registering with BIAB.
Please contact PG Music Support. You can email, call or online chat. See the Support tab, above.
Be able to tell them what Build number of BIAB you have (Help, About).
BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors
Just guessing here. I think that keyboard is class compliant which means no drivers other than provided by Win10 are required. Just plug and play. My question is does it work in any other music applications? Does it work in your DAW?
I have a couple keyboard. One connect via both USB to my computer and via midi to my MOTU audio express. Here in the picture you see two connections to the same keyboard in BIAB setup. I have heard tails of bad USB cables??
OK, that's an important clue, that Cakewalk doesn't see it either. Control Panel, Devices will pick up a USB device, but unless your drivers are correct and correctly installed, a music application will not. I now think Mario was correct above. Uninstall your Casio drivers and then reinstall.

Adding to Matt's response are the Casio drivers you are using compatible with your version of Windows? Are there newer Casio drivers available?
My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.

colbert. heres a shot in the dark. just a suspicion. is there a setting you have to turn on to make the keyboard send midi over usb ?
one thing you might do OUTSIDE OF ANY MUSIC SOFTWARE LIKE BIAB OR CAKE is run a piece of software called a midi monitor on your pc...(google FREE MIDI MONITOR.) if you see data IS getting from keyboard then its a setting in the music software. best/ymmv oldmuso
Dare I suggest that the Casio px-360 is a Digital Piano and NOT a midi controller? The USB is only there for recording proprietary audio output.
"...I bought this mainly for the MIDI sequencer. The sounds and keyboard action are great, but the showstopper was the inability to export the rhythm track as midi drums either by file export or midi out playback even with midi accompaniment export turned on. You can only export the rhythm track with a .ZMF file which is Casio proprietary format. They offer an SMF to ZMF converter but no ZMF to SMF converter, which means the compositions you create on this keyboard can only be reproduced on a Casio keyboard if you want to use the their rhythm track. I really wanted this to work out but ended up returning it."
Page 61 of the PX-360M owner's manual indicates the keyboard transfers MIDI with computers running Windows Vista, 7, 8 & 8.1. MIDI communication is not supported in Windows 10.
The manual also states the keyboard is "Windows Compliant" so Casio does not provide a keyboard audio or MIDI driver.
I've attached the owner's manual and MIDI implementation charts below.
Jim, I didn’t read that, but I wonder if he installs the driver using Windows 7 compatibility, would it work. I’m very surprised to see something currently sold by Sweetwater that won’t support Windows 10. Very odd.

Looking at the manual, there doesn't seem to be anything that needs to be enabled - it should just work. I second the suggestion of trying a MIDI monitor program - this is one I've used in the past: https://hautetechnique.com/midi/midiview/ - but other similar ones should work just as well.

I'm assuming this is class compliant, since Casio says it'll work under macOS and Windows but does not have any drivers for it on their website - it theoretically should just plug in and work. Curious that it doesn't work in multiple programs so far.
Colbert - can you check in the Device Manager to see if the keyboard is listed under Sound, Video, And Game Controllers? You can get to the Device Manager by searching in the Start menu for it.
I wonder if he installed the original drivers and they are controlling the keyboard? Maybe he should uninstall the drivers and let Win 10 find the keyboard via new hardware? He may have to unplug the keyboard, boot Win 10, then plug in the keyboard. IIRC I had to do this a few years back when my Roland Octa-Capture audio interface when from Roland drivers to Won 10 drivers. It might be worth a try. YMMV

I have seen this situation in the past. The solution was to not use the USB but rather use the MIDI out (which this keyboard appears to have) from the Keyboard to the MIDI in of your audio device (if your audio device has one). My MOTU does have midi in so I can take an older midi keyboard which is no longer supported via USB (no drivers) and get it fully working by connecting to my MOTU to send the midi to the computer by USB. (See page EN 61 of the manual - you have to use the MIDI cable to send midi to computer).
