Can I set a default plugin for the Thru channel? My default synth is the Cakewalk TTS-1, which is fine for most cases, but for the through channel I almost always want my Pianoteq plugin. Would love to not have to change this every time I create a new song.

I don't believe you can set a default plugin for the thru channel but if I'm wrong someone will correct me.

However if you can't set it a work around would be to save a preset song with your settings then start each new song with it. You could label it something like "1 initial setup" so it would be on top of your song list. Just be sure after you start a new song you save as using a different song title, that way you would always have your "1 initial setup" song.

I just posted a selfie and all of the responses were get well soon!

You can also use VstSynthFont http://www.synthfont.com/VSTSF_news.html
as it will let you load any VST instrument on a channel and this should stay there as default.
In Options MIDI Drivers set it to "Route MIDI Thru to MIDI Driver"
Set VstSynthFont as default synth.

I'll mention the following here. I may be peculiar to me, though I can't see why as it happens on both my Linux+Wine setup and on my Win8.1 notepad PC. I also believe other people do not see the same problem ... odd.

I couldn't get VSTSynthFont to 'stick' as my default VSTi. No matter what I did, it kept dropping back to CoyoteWT. If it works for you and/or the OP, great, if not there are other options like sforzando (which I'm presently using and which is sticking).

Peter Gannon has drawn attention to the Cakewalk TTS-1 synth. +++ in this post +++

I've been using Cakewalk TTS-1 as my default synth for several years and it has worked great, though I do very little MIDI-specific work. Not sure how it will work with the Linux+Wine setup.

I'm quite happy to be out on a limb.
I have to say, though, that I'm pretty impressed with how Wine on Linux works now. Most(*) of BiaB runs just as it should. I think I've not had any VSTs not work. If they haven't, I've not noticed.

Probably only for the Linux enthusiast at present. I've only run the music stuff on AVL:MXI Linux and had some guidance from pipeline/musocity.

(*) There's an important caveat that in needs .wav files, not .wma files to work. One can easily expand .wma to .wav using something like ffmpeg, but of course the audio quality remains as if .wma. The UltraPAK expands to something like 1.7TB.

I was thinking with Linux the Biab Track Injector should work and inject the wma if the Linux version of Reaper handles wma files now ? The Win version used to use ffmpeg but that was not accurate so they used the WMF codec after I asked them.
Though it will handle any other format you convert the RT RD to like mp3, flac, wav, ogg, wavepack, aiff.
It would just need the paths in the script changed to add the wine drive to the path for bb and AutoHotkey.

I've not yet had the patience/enthusiasm to get to grips with the track injector. Probably something to do with the depression :-(

However, today for the first time in years I spent several hours in my garage/workshop clearing up, clearing out, making space, without a single panic attack. That's huge progress from the dark place my ex-employer left me. For a long time I'd fail even to manage 20 minutes without going into melt-down.

I have been looking at my garage/workshop and keep saying I gotta clean that out but lack of enthusiasm and energy it just got put off for years, but I think you have just encouraged me to do it NOW !
I'm over all my depression and panic attacks these days thank God ! it's just left me with stress and low energy from time to time as the adrenals are a bit depleted from working overtime from all I went through years back.

What I did for some time was allocate 1/2 hour to the task, so I knew I had an end. And I ended when that 1/2 hour was up. That allowed me to keep both the garage and my panic attacks just about under control. It also allowed me slowly to build up an 'immunity' to it. It's quite shocking just how debilitating depression can be.

Yesterday and today have been ground-breaking for me.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
