The Sky Is CryingHi Folks, "The Sky Is Crying" was written and initially recorded by Elmore James in 1959. This song and several more hits including "My Bleeding Heart", "Stranger Blues", "Look on Yonder Wall", "Done Somebody Wrong", and "Shake Your Moneymaker" were all written and recorded just before his untimely death in 1963 at the age of just 45. My version features: Vocals - Nigel Spiers Drums - Shannon Forrest (BluesRock128) Bass - Craig Young (1922) Rhythm Guitar - Sol Philcox (1924) Lead Guitar - Brent Mason (1925) Organ - Chris Nole (675)

This is a nice blues, I like the song and what you did with it.
For my taste a shorter vibrato in your voice would fit better to this genre.

Love the blues, and this is an excellent version.
The vocal is especially good - clear recording, excellent singing, and the mix is pro all the way.

One of my favorite blues songs ever. The first time I heard it, I thought, "That is blues poetry." This version sounds really good. You usually use some live instruments, but even when you use all RTs as you've done here, your productions excel. Great job.

Hi Guitarhacker,
Yes many of the Realtracks are superb. I find many of the bases and some of the other instruments are a bit muddy but a small EQ cut at 120Hz soon fixes that.

A very cool song and excellent recording and version. About how long do you think it took you to create the music? I am assuming there was a use of multi riffs and some cutting and pasting to get the guitar solo to be so spot on etc.? I would love to read a little of how you went about creating it.

Hi Misha,
Vocals - I use Rode NT1 mic and then Izotope Nectar Plugin with various presets including "Sharp & Bright". I always disable Pitch & De-Esser, maybe a little EQ and always the two Compressors and Reverb at around 18%. I never use Delay.
