After some hours of trying ... I discovered that "Realtek Stereomix" is not working (no sound) on my desktop pc. So I need another way to render midi to audio. For Example Audacity is working fine with a loopback of the computer master output. I need same in Band in a Box. Thats what I bought Band in a Box for...
Attached is a picture of my set up for dragging MIDI to individual audio tracks, just add check marks on the plugin settings #3 through #6. Note I don't currently have my BiaB set up like this but with those check marks it will work. Also note I messed up and have two number 3s, i.e. not enough coffee in me yet!
Then drag the Master to the wav, enter the DAW mode, and drag the + sign to your DAW or where ever you are saving your wavs. Note based on what you said you already know how to do this.
I think VSTi and DXi will ever work. But my problem is to get MIDI Patches from an external Software Synth into audio format. The only way seems to record the output of the mixed signal of the computer hardware. But there is no way from within BandInABox. And no tool available?
Recording your synth is the correct solution I'm fairly certain you can do this in BiaB
Though to be honest I'd be a lot more qualified to explain how to do that in Realband (the sister program you probably have if you are using Windows as OS) I find RB easier, but I'm pretty sure you can do this in BiaB using the routing options .. or the routing options of your interface
Example: Send the audio out of the external synth to channels 5/6, then record the input from 3/4 after routing those inputs (5/6) back in on 3/4 ..
or fix the problem with the Realtek StereoMix mix (in my opinion, not the best solution, but usable) Driver update maybe? Or configuration inside the Realtek (?)
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
I'm wondering why you think that. BiaB seems to support most VST software quite well, so long as (at present) it's VST2, not VST3.

MIDI output goes to Virtual MIDI Synth (Softsynth Windows)
Hi Thomas,
I think you need to clarify this statement. This thread is a bit confused as to what you are using for your MIDI sounds. Yes, if you are using an external MIDI module, you would need to record it to an audio track (which *could* be done in BIAB). But what, in fact, IS selected for MIDI output? Look in Options | MIDI/Audio Driver Setup. What is the ouptut driver selected? Are you using a DXi / VSTi synth? Also, if you have selected a plugin on an individual track, check the Plugin tab of the Mixer...
Please read my first post in this thread. *** MIDI output goes to Virtual MIDI Synth (Softsynth Windows) ***
VirtualMIDISynth is a software MIDI synthesizer implemented as a Windows multimedia user driver, accessible as a standard MIDI Out device.
The confusion comes in your third message "Hi I think VSTi and DXi will ever work. But my problem is to get MIDI Patches from an external Software Synth into audio format. The only way seems to record the output of the mixed signal of the computer hardware. But there is no way from within BandInABox. And no tool available?"
I think you are discussing two different issues in one thread. The above message should have started another thread.
From what I gather the best way to accomplish this is may be to load the song into the VSTi then drag-n-drop it into your DAW.
My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.

Is the Virtual MIDI Synth (Softsynth Windows) set as the default MIDI device in BiaB?
This would likely affect trying to Merge or Render See below for where to select the default synth.
If you have BiaB you should have Coyote WT available, which would likely sound the same as your 'Virtual MIDI Synth' .. since they both probably use the same gm.dls file as the original sound source

I've been presuming the software is VirtualMIDISynth, which is usually set to play full soundfont files, not gm.dls, so it will sound much better than CoyoteWT. I thnk we're still unclear what the original poster means by "external" synth, that is, we are unclear whether it's being run as a VST or as a separate external program with the MIDI fed to it from the output of BiaB.
Generally I would expect it, or one of the other good soundfont synthesisers around, to be enabled on the MIDI dialog where you show it.
I've had some odd issues with VirtualMIDISynth but that may be due to me running in Wine on Linux, not with any issues with VirtualMIDISynth itself.
BiaB comes with VSTSynthFont64, oddly hidden away in a sub-folder. The BiaB manual guides how to use it. People also seem keen on TTS-1 (cakewalk, IIRC). Plogue's Sforzando comes with BiaB and plays soundfonts.
All of those definitely can be used as a VST as you show.
Soundfonts I personally like are: Timbres of Heaven JJazzLab-Soundfont Compifont
There are quite a few others. I've heard good of arachno-soundfont.
