Hello,
I'm finding that each digital music or midi production software imports midi in its own different way. Band-in-a-Box is perhaps no exception. I entered a piano score into a digital notation editor called NoteWorthy and saved as a midi (both O and 1), but BIIB's notation, puts the bulk of bass notes into the treble (G) staff instead of below, in the bass (F) staff where they belong.
Not sure why this is happening, but if BIAB could allow for importation of digital notation it would solve a lot of problems for me and perhaps others.
Also, having a lot of trouble entering notation. I don't see anything in the manual that shows me how to enter, for example, grace notes or how to place two notes within a bar without having rests appear (then not being able to delete the rests). Hate to say this because BIAB is otherwise such a wonderful software.
So it would be great if BIAB would allow importation of digital score and revamp its notation entry system. I think the numerical one is great for people who are used to that, but it would be much better if we could also enter every event (notes of every value, dotted notes, rests, grace notes, for example) from a menu.
Thanks, As Always,
Jon

1. Set the key to the right one before you import.
2. On the left of the screen is a 'notation options.' Split staves is there.
3. There are video tutorials and note entry is covered there. For simple work, a melody and chords this is the easiest method to do things.
If you are looking for a particular song type in band in a box and the filename in google.
I have close to 10,000 song listings (duplicates for sure) but I only entered about 20 of them myself. I did purchase quite a few fakebooks from Notes Norton in band in a box format over the years and with a digital keyboard and the software can thus play in any key and style I like. I think classic rock and roll was the latest one I got from him and Amazon (digital download) next day for the fakebook.

Thanks, John!
Worked like a charm. Really appreciate it. While I have you is there any setting or Realtrack that can make it sound less midi-like. It's little stiff. You probably know what I mean, and "Bright" Piano, like in other applications, is rather dull.
Warm Regards,
Jon

Notes Norton BIIB Products. Now that's interesting. Took me a moment to figure that out, but googled it and saw. Now wondering about the midi stiffness and hoping BIIB can put a few wrinkes in that piano ballad.

Hi Jon, Entering notation in BIAB can be very confusing at the start because it is very different from other programs. Once you learn how it works, though, BIAB's entry method is the quickest I've come across. If you go to the below link and scroll down to the video archives, there's a link to a wmv file on notation entry. This is well worth watching. http://www.pgmusic.com/videos.bbwin.htmRegards, Noel

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
