Does anyone know if there exists any compatibility problems with any Lexicon recording interfaces when used with Realband? I have a Lexicon Alpha which works fine in Sonar and Cubase, but I cannot get a recording signal to register when using it in Realband.
I followed the instructions in the user manual; the driver is recognized as well as the input and outputs, and the track is set to audio and not muted. However, when I play the guitar there is no signal registering at all, even though I can hear it through the headphones from the Alpha. This is pretty frustrating, as Realband offers a lot of additional records opportunities that other sequencers don't.
It's back to Sonar if I can't get Realband to work with the Alpha...

Could it be a sample rate difference ? Like 24bit on Lexicon and 16 bit on RB ?

Axegrinder - hearing sound through the headphones on the Alpha doesn't mean that signal is getting to the computer - the Alpha has direct hardware monitoring. In order to hear if the signal is passing through to the computer and back, you need to rotate the monitor mix knob fully clockwise to the playback side of the dial.
If not, then you are just passing signal from the input of the alpha directly to the headphone jack.
Once you have done that - then there is some debugging about how to get the driver / mixer applet (I don't believe there is one for the Alpha) to function correctly in RB for your Alpha, so that you can ensure you are recording signals.
Unfortunately, it looks as if Lexicon have chosen to give instructions in the manual for the operation of the interface strictly for Cubase LE. That's kind of unfortunate.

One of the tips I got from talking to Lexicon tech support was to (not) set the Alpha as the default playback device in Windows for recording or playback. (set the motherboards primary audio instead) and completely de-select the Alpha as far as Windows is concerned.
Then in the host program, RealBand in this case setup the Alpha as the audio in and out and try again to playback media in RealBand.
You may want to use headphones directly plugged into the Alpha to cut out any other gear that could be problematic on the output path. As well, utilize your VU meters in RealBand and let us know if you have signal bouncing or not on the output side.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
