After getting to grips with the custom ending options in the Song Settings menu in BIAB (ie being able to set up Tags, change the 2 and 4 bar auto endings etc) I am now wanting to do this in RB but somewhat perplexed that the Song Settings menu is very different and doesn't appear to have the Tag spec. options .....just the 2-bar tick box on the main screen. Seems that the only way to do custom ends in is to do the song in BIAB and then open it in RB.

Am I missing something obvious in RB that enables you to do custom ends?

You can manually create any custom ending just how you want, drums are limited to 2 bars (though you can create one using copy/paste sections from the original drum track) but RealTracks are 4 bar endings (though you can use MultiRiffs to add to the Ending of an instrument).

Thanks for your reply Pipeline.
Using multi riffs was actually the way I was getting around the situation but I just wondered whether there was a way in RB of arranging more specific custom ends like you can in BIAB video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF3n9KDcFwI Apparently not.

I have tried unsuccessfully to get a meaningful end using both ticked and unticked 2 bar end boxes and seem to finish up with either an abrupt and unprofessional sounding stop with no gradual decay or even worse, instruments ending at different times or just petering out in chaos shocked

Thank you for your help. Back to the drawing board!

I have been doing up some extra tracks for a live band recording and they end on beat 3 so I had to cut n paste the ending to the correct beat.
You can do everything in the BB video in RB, to get a 2 bar ending to generate correctly with 2 bar (1 bar decay) of Drums and 4 bar (3 bar decay) for RTs set a part marker with a chord on the bar after the one you have set to end at, with 2 bar ending ticked/checked.
If you have Snap enabled at the top you can highlight the section of track, then hold Ctrl+Shift while you drag the section where you want.

Thank you so much for your last reply Pipeline and especially for the explanatory screen captures. Great!!
It really is true about pictures being worth a thousand words....especially when dealing with complex software.

I'll have a try at those suggestions tonight.

Kind Regards

Kev.

Something in your picture intrigued me and I couldn't figure it out right away.
How did you get blue BB tracks on 9 thru 13?

They are BB tracks, the Green regular.
I just removed the BB midi tracks first before generating the BB tracks. So in Prefs > uncheck > Auto generate song when SGU file is opened (Song Demo). Unless you have changed your skin that you don't get Blue BB tracks ? You can try and run the RB off your usb drive and see what you get

My skin still shows them Blue, I just don't think I've ever used that many BB tracks at once. I usually make them regular tracks right away, so I guess it never occurred to me.
Mine always look more like #14 in your image.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
