has anybody gone to the Amplitube custom shop to add more gear to the plugin? I'm confused about how that works. Are you just buying access codes to activate features that already exist as part of the original installation? Or do you download and install more stuff?

You download more stuff. Different amps actually.

have you done this? If so, what did you get? Do you have to go through the activation ordeal each time a new piece of gear is added?

I notice there is an Amplitube upgrade available, and registered users of bundled versions qualify:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio...oftware-upgrade

having seen the prices for individual gear purchases on the custom shop, this would probably be the whole shebang for one fixed price.

Note to PGMusic: now that you bundle Amplitube with BIAB, you may want to consider carrying the upgrade in your web store.

According to the ad, it comes with 160 pieces of gear... 51 stomp boxes, 31 amps, 46 speaker cabs etc and more

The lowest price for an individual purchase on the custom shop was $5 (many were $30)

at $5 each, 160 pieces of gear would cost $800 if purchased individually on the custom shop. But $5 is lower than the average custom shop price.
51 stomp boxes at $5 ea = $255
31 amps at $30 each = $930
46 speaker cabs at $5 each = $230
------------------------------------
so buying one piece of gear at a time could cost 10 times as much as buying the upgrade.
($1,960 vs $199)

I like Amplitube so far. It makes sense to enhance its usability by upgrading to the full package.

Thoughts?

I'm not going to do all the leg work however you need to be VERY aware of how IKM does things. You all need to visit their web site and their Forums.
That MF sale is an UPGRADE if you have one of the PURCHASED versions of AT2,SVX,AT3. We DO NOT have a purchased version. We have the FREE version of AT3. To get the FULL paid version is a WHOLE LOT MORE $$$$$$$$$$ Going from AT3 to this is a CROSSGRADE $269.00
Check out the site.

John,

it's my understanding that we have a BUNDLED version, not a free version... Typically bundled versions, if registered, allow upgrades. That's how most of us got Sonar, by upgrading a bundled version. However, it's a definition of terms, and IKM might not define it the same way.

I went to the IKM site and entered the keyword UPGRADE and saw other messages from people who upgraded products from a bundled version.

Also, on Ebay, a dealer posted this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-IK-Multimedi...=item4aac78596f

about half way down the page, he says that registered users of the full *or* bundled Vversions qualify for the upgrade

I also left a message for sales to verify whether or not the version bundled with BIAB qualifies for the upgrade. I'll post their response when I get it.

Pat,
This is not a bundled version. Pg just DL the free version .exe and made it available the same as going to the sight. There is nothing unique about this version. Pg also just made some settings files the same as any one could.
Go ahead and get it but if it don't work..........

Gotcha.
It's easy to see this either way. I'll go by whatever I hear from IKM. Either way, even at $299 (full price at Musician's Friend) its a lot cheaper than buying everything piecemeal from the custom shop. I think it adds something to the RB experience that I'd like to build on it.

But if it ends up being full price, I may have to wait for a sale.

IK Multimedia's competitive prices make it easier and more affordable than ever to expand your computer-based studio with a wide collection of IK products. Both retail and special bundled versions of IK products (such as SampleTank 2 SE, AmpliTube 2 DUO, Ampeg SVX UNO and T-RackS 3 EQ) qualify you to make extra savings on crossgrades. yeah, you're probably right.

I presumed that in order to include somebody else's product there would have to be some sort of agreement between the two companies... most products specifically say that they cannot be distributed with any other product without the consent of the company that owns the rights.. .and when that happens, it is generally considered (in every other case) to be bundled software.

Pat,
I got Amplitube 3 on a deal from AudioMidi.com. It may be worth waiting a while till they have a blowout sale.

Have you already exhausted the capabilities of the included Amplitube? I still use Amplitube 1 LE and it's got plenty of capability for my needs.

Pat I already had some credits with IK from prior purchases of T-Racks & SampleTank & a different version of Amplitube. To purchase credits from custom shop is easy, just click on the button. What is nice about the custom shop is you do not need to authorize anything it does it automatically. Also it knows what you have purchased or already have and can restore them at any time if you loose them (think I-tunes store). They had a sale on the Fender amps for half price last month and I took advantage of several amps-cabs & effects. You can try anything for free. They are always running some specials on custom shop and you can purchase whole collections if you desire.
Brian

When you run custom shop it knows who you are and what you have intalled is why you don't need to authorize.

an awful lot of the stuff is grayed out in the version I have. But in answer to your question: of course not. How can a renewable resource ever be exhausted? It's just fun to have lots of options.

One other thing that I found nice was I have Amplitube installed on my laptop as well as my desktop. When I purchase new items on my desktop from custom shop, I can fire up the laptop go to custom shop and click on the Account tab then select restore my gear. It will download any of the new items I purchased for the desktop to my laptop. Actually it will put everything that is missing that I should have.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
